That is piss poor advice.....for comparison I'm 5'-10" and at one time weighed 210 lbs and a Large fit perfectly when I wore every piece of hunting clothing I own including bibs and big arse parka that I would wear when temp dropped below 15 degrees. For everyday 30-60 degree layering, the large is comfortably loose. During early bow or turkey hunting it's in the way. I wear a medium for warm weather.

Ok I 6'2" 348, is the 3xl leafy suit going to be big enough especially for a little layering underneath?

You should just buy some asat fabric and poke a hole in the middle for your noggin and wear it like a poncho

They have a size chart on their website, and it was accurate for me. It does run a little big though for layering and what not.

I'm 5'10 180 and I wear the large. Seems pretty big on me especially in warm weather but my dad gave it to me a few years ago so I have no complaints.

Never bought that pattern. I'm sure the pattern works, but I can't get over the looks.

I agree that it looks weird to my eyes too. BUT, from watching the videos and seeing real use pictures, it appears to work quite well. I sure hope so anyway haha

Exactly! Took me a little bit to be convinced, but I think it's going to be effective.

I bought a suit a couple years ago. I had neck surgery and wasn't going to be able to climb to hunt for a month or so. I wanted something that would work good on the ground and the youtube videos convinced me to try it. The first time I wore it in the woods, I was sold on it. I was standing against a tree. I had 3 does and a fawn walk by about 10 feet away and never saw me. The last doe knew something wasn't exactly right and she looked past me, more like "through" me several times, but she could not make out anything and never got nervous. I have had deer see me while wearing Realtree and/or Mossy Oak camo many times while on the ground and sitting in a stand. The ASAT works great on the ground and if one sees you in a tree with it on, it's because you were moving.

The leafy part helps, but I also have a Realtree HD leafy suit and it doesn't work near as well.

It's one of the few things that I've ever bought for hunting that has exceeded my expectations. I bought some of the leafy fabric on ebay. I got it, washed it, and cut a hole dead center of it. My 12 year old wears it like a poncho. I think it cost $15. The guys I hunt with make fun of our ASAT. One day last year we were at the campers at lunch and I got my son to walk across the road into the thinned pines and sit down with his ASAT poncho on. I got the guys to turn their backs while he went over there. He didn't hide behind a tree, he just sat down in some dead ferns and pulled the fabric over his head. Only one guy out of 4 could find him. He was no more than 30 yards from us.

Fur I've looked all over and can't find the fabric by itself. I wanted to save some $ and have the wife sew me something but can't drum up any.

There will be 100 people say that camo don't matter, just sit still and play the wind, but ASAT works as advertised without a doubt in my mind. If a deer looks up at you in a tree, as long as you don't move or blink, 99% of the time, they will move on along without spooking.

I haven't looked in a couple of years but it was all over ebay when I got mine.

EDIT: There dang sure isn't any on ebay now that I can find. One thing I did notice is that the leafy suits are cheaper now. I think I paid $150 for mine. It's very well made.

Hmmm....

I may order a set. Guess I'll need a medium. Found the suit for $104.24.

This what y'all are talking about?

Yes. Mine might have come with a Boonie hat too, I can't remember. You won't regret getting it.

Regarding the size. I wear XXL shirts and XL pants. If I was 7' 4" tall, I think my XXL ASAT pants would be the right length. The suits do run large. They're meant to go over clothes. I can wear mine over insulated overalls and heavy coat. In bow season that's a little much when I've got shorts and a t shirt under it.

Yes, Shaw, that is it....wash it 4 or 5 times as soon as you get it to soften it up. It's stiff and crunchy feeling until it's been washed a few times. It is much better made than the cheap leafy suits Walmart sells, but you still can't go walking through briars and real thick stuff without tearing it up. I carry mine in my bag and put it on at the stand.

Its perfect for turkey hunting. Pick what you wear under according to the temps. Shorts and a t-shirt or pants and long sleeves.

I'm not much on leafy suits, but the shirt and pants from Eders is intriguing.

The 3d suit is great, but depending on terrain, the legs will tear up if you get in any thick stuff. You can get the pattern in other cotton and wool clothing, but i still thing the leafy suit is the best option.

Me too. It looks much better than the printed design.

GOod info. I think the leafy suit looks better also, but I would only use it for turkey hunting. I hunt hard and busting through briars and thick stuff is a daily occurrence. My concern is I don't think the leafy suit would hold up.

I'm 6'5" 225# and I wear the XL. Fits well over anything or worn alone with shorts. I have a 44" chest.

Excellent investment. I've worn in it duck, deer, and turkey hunting and it has outperformed my expectations. Last year I struck out to hunt with the intention of finding fresh sign and hanging a stand. I found a a great spot and couldn't find a tree to climb. I got in some nearby bushes and waited and unfortunately neglected to see the trail that a sat RIGHT next to. I had a deer literally smell my left shoulder. I do not exaggerate when I say she was inches away. I could hear her breathing.

Buy it.

It will not hold up walking through briars and I don't know of any leafy suits that would. I have to buy new pants every year.

What do you guys think about a ghillie suit like this versus the ASAT SUIT

I wouldn't wear a ghille hunting, it would snag on every limb and pick up every leaf you walked by, plus that suit is way too green for deer hunting.

The brown truck dropped off my suit yesterday. I'm going to admit, it's ugly as hell. My wife laughed at it. grin I'm more worried about killing deer than looking good though. I've never worn ASAT, so we'll see how it goes. I would love to find a suit like this in NatGear camo. To me that is the most effective camo I've ever used, but it's hard as hell to find any good clothing in that pattern. The ASAT suit is a lot softer out of the box than I thought it would be.

Put the suit on, walk out in the woods, let her try to spot you and your wife will quit laughing at it.

How was the medium sizing for you?

Plenty of room left over jeans and a t-shirt.

I bought the regular ASAT clothing. I'm afraid my longbow will get caught in the leafy suit. I've been using ASAT and Predator for years and love them both. The vest is super comfortable.

Natural Gear does have a similar suit. I use to have one but I sold it and bought the ASAT suit. The natural gear suit was too light colored for my liking.

Every time I look at ASAT it makes me cringe. Then I think about what MO and R'tree look like and I hear most often: Those look like blobs in the forest. And then ASAT's open design makes more sense.

My cousin looked at me a little strange the first time I got out and put mine on. Then I killed a deer that morning and took my leafy jacket off while we pulled the deer to the truck. During the walk back my jacket fell out of my backpack and we went back to look for it. We knew exactly where we walked and I thought we would never find that thing. We walked over it several times before we found it. He has been wearing ASAT ever since. I use ASAT and predator as well and really like both. I admit it doesn't look as good to the human eye as the others but it works. I think it's evident by the fact that I hear way more hunter testimonials about it than I do commercials trying to sell it.
