I have been biting my tongue for several months waiting to see how this was going to play out. Well, I am tired of waiting.

And let me say this, I do not fault any dealership, salesman, or service office in any way.

Bad Boy Buggies are a complete waste of money. They should change their name to something much more fitting. Something like Sissy boy buggies or Keep them out of the mud buggies or something like that.

Some history on my experience.

I purchased a Bad Boy Buggy Classic from the BPS in Prattville on 7/25/2012. Over the next 10 months I had to have the brakes replaced 3 times. Seems mud eats up the pads.....really fast. Had to have the charger replaced twice. And the muffler kept falling off. We would normally fix it ourselves. And the battery life was FAR less than advertised. Warning here. They must estimate their battery life on flat paved surfaces. Because in the woods it doesn't get anywhere near what they said.

On 5/3/2013 I got stupid and traded it in on a new BBB Ambush thinking that the hybrid model would allow us to get the distance and life out of it we needed. Silly me. It is in the shop right now for it's 3rd run on replacing the brakes and the 2nd run on fixing the charger. Once again it seems they were not made for mud.

Since July of 2012 through today over the time of both buggies I would estimate that we have had an operational buggy for maybe 10 months. I will agree that part of that is my fault. I got tired of taking it back to the shop for repairs and just let it sit some.

I do have to take some of the blame here. I should have not taken a bite out of the sour apple twice. I should have learned my lesson the first time.

Just got a call on the repairs needed this time. Pads, boots, and repair the charger about $400. Lucky me!

Knowing how you actually USE your equipment to make a living and not just to pull around on a trailer to look cool at the hunting camp it was a good "test". Good enough most of us weekend warriors should know not to buy one at least IMO.

We had a couple at our lodge they were the earlier ones and still a waste. Rode like freaking log trucks and would get stuck in the gravel on the road. And the brakes like he stated went out 2 times and we never touched them again after that the dealer said there always going to go out do to the crappy design.

Can't beat old gas powered 4 wheelers and UTVs.

deer are so used to the smell and noise of ATV's and tractors at our place they don't pay them any attention anymore

I had about the same experiance with mine last year, I only kept it about 4 months and after never getting a full hunt out if it without it breaking down or batteries running dead after a mile I got rid of mine. That was the best thing I did. Thanks for posting b/c I was thinking about buying a ambush but I won't now.

I had one about 10 years ago when they first came out, batteries lasted about two hunting seasons, learned it would cost $1,500+ to replace them, so I sold that mutha!

I could have told you they were prices of chit 5 years ago. They stay messed up all the time. I wouldn't give someone $100 for a brand new one.

There are a whole lot more converted golf carts out there than BBB and I hear far less complaints with them. I converted my second one this summer - replace the stock controller, lift kit, tires, winch, home-made rear bed. It won't go some places an atv will, but it will go anywhere I need and less than $2500 in it. Plus, I had all the fun of working on it.

We had a brand new one when they first came out. Spent just so much on repairs in 3 years as we paid for it. Total in around 14k for 3 years. Complete junk! I'm telling you, you cannot beat a Honda four Wheeler.

I'm telling you, you can buy a brand new Honda four Wheeler, put one of those stealth exhaust on it. Use it for hunting only and in 20yrs, you can sell it and get all your money back. And, never have any trouble other than general maintenence.

I will not deny that we put them in the woods. I don't understand them eating brakes like crazy and I don't understand the dang charging system failing all the time. I don't see those issues as us being ruff on them. grin

Yep, had BBB, Stealth and Ranger EUV. The Ranger was by far the best but none of them were very good. If all you are going to do is poke along on flat ground and turkey hunt for half a day, you are good.

We ran outfitted hunts with them, in and out 2x a day through picked ag fields, creeks and mountains. None of them stand up to it.

We had the same issues as Barry. We even set 2 on fire just riding them. The electric motors got too hot... What???

Range is no where near as advertised. Yes the EV was best of all the battery ones.

Do you plug the charger into an extension cord ?? Just brainstorming as to why you go thru them so fast. I need to quit talking to you about carts before something happens to mine !!!

central ala,
I know one wouldn't last me. When I buy a 4 wheeler, utv, truck, tractor, etc. it will be used as equipment. It will NOT be abused and will be maintained but used relentlessly. A good rule of thumb is check what foresters and farmers use and ask them if they would buy another one.

Well it has been in the shop for going on 3 weeks now this time. For the record I purchased it in May of 2013. This is the 3rd time having the brakes replaced. This time front and back. The wiring harness was found to be bad so they are having to replace it. That is why it wouldn't charge this time. They just called to tell me that 2 of the batteries are bad....this is just after 19 months. No telling what it is going to cost me to get it out when they get finished with it.

If any of you guys or gals buy a BBB in the future, it ain't my fault. I warned you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And also for the record, I think they should change the name of the buggies to POS Buggies.
