Did you take a photo or keep the snake? Can you find it again?
Matt Brock on here would love to document it that far north...at least he has said in the past to let him know if anyone finds one anywhere close to Montgomery on the south or further north.

Is that border the Fall Line or there'bouts?
Appears to associated with the upper/inner coastal plain fall line

I would assume the reason there's a distinct territorial line would HAVE to have something to do with (1) soil type, (2) other habitat requirements that only occur in that far southern zone, (3) preferred prey?
I would be curious to know if others see timber rattlers down south?
We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.

The map is roughly the coastal plain. There is not suitable habitat out of it. I believe centralala saw it, but as he describes himself it is a fluke. Could be there on its own but not as likely as it got some help to get there. Remember the shark at the boat ramp in guntersville a couple of years ago........well it was there alright.
Here is just as good a question as if anyone has spotted them outside of the zone on the map, do you also see gopher tortoises and their burrows? I KNOW it's not right. That is the reason I posted it here. No gopher tortoises that I have seen but it was my understanding that "Gobbler" on here was suppose to bring some in along with Indigo snakes. Don't think it ever happened though. As far as finding again, well, things don't last long on Hwy. 82. I doubt much is left.

Yes timbers down here too but in my experience DBs outnumber them.

Going to be our 6th yr in alabama and have yet to see a rattlesnake of any kind. But last summer I did get a pic of a gopher tortoise on a gravel rd last summer in Monroe co.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

This is correct. We would like to document DB's that far north. I have not heard of them up in that part of the world. When I managed property in south AL I never saw one north of 84 and rarely saw them period.

More diamond backs than timber rattlers on the south end of Monroe county from what I've seen,a buddy of mine kills 5-6 big diamondbacks a year a rarely kills a timber on that end,he killed a hoss of a DB during turkey season,he almost sat down on it Interesting thing though once you get into the hills north of Monroeville, you see way more timbers. I grew up in Baldwin Co and only remember ever seeing 1 timber here and that was about 20 years ago. I've come across countless diamondbacks, but it seems that they have been a lot more scarce in the past few years. I think the population overall is way down from what it used to be.

I killed a diamond back in my parents yard in Bermuda a few years ago, that's the only one I've seen north of Hwy 84.
Anything worth doing, is worth doing right, or it's not worth doing at all!
