Been seeing posts about them.... Our place is LOADED once again! BIG acorns! Overcups, Swamp Chesnuts, White Oaks, Red Oaks...and a decent crop of water oaks. And, they are falling unusually early. Not sure what's up with that. But, the ground is covered with them! I filled a trough with corn by one of my feeders Thur and put a camera by it. Normally, a bag of corn would be gone in one, MAYBE two, days. I went by yesterday and the trough was still full and camera only had 3 pics! They are HAMMERING the acorns! Also, I have two feeders in a big clearcut for the hogs. Corn on ground still and NO hog pics! I hope they all fall early......But, I know better.....

What I like to find in late season is a Nuttall Oak loaded down and dropping. I've even found fresh dropped acorns under one during turkey season.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Biggest concentration of them I have found is along a drain that connects two "ponds" in an area between two creeks. We've lost a couple of nice specimens to high winds during the wet season.
Wish I had more of them on my place.
