What are some seed blends/ fert combos you have had good luck with for minimal sunlight areas? I'm thinking about grabbing a rake, spreader, and weed eater and trying to create a small spot or two.

I will be making some this weekend on some newly acquired land we have but it will involve a chainsaw and my rear tine tiller and a lighter. as far as seed blends for shady areas I will be of little help, I like to open the canopy if possible, its a pain in the butt planting a plot and then having it get drowned out with leaves.

Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

Cereal rye and clover do well in the shade.

First off; I am sorry you have small hands. second most blends are packed full of wheat seeds with a small amount of good other seeds. wheat sells for $7.oo for 50lbs. so try buying something with out wheat. this spring I had plenty of wheat come up, but it didn't do much during hunting season. I like turnips the best, they seem to regenerate after being eaten pretty good.

I've never had any luck with shaded plots under oaks. When the leaves drop, its like putting a tarp over it. Under shady pines, however, they seem to do well for me. Just lime, oats, clover, lime, triple 13, and lime.
