So labor day weekend I planted buck forage oats, 9 foot of rain and almost 3 weeks later I have 6-8 inches of oats growing thickest I've ever seen. My question is what would happen if I mowed it? I'm just wondering if it can get to tall or to thick. I've never had this problem with food plots before, usually they are way too thin.

Finally deported myself from the peoples republik of Kaliforkistan.

I started to comment on your other thread about that. We plant oats and I've noticed the deer come to them a lot less when they get up high like that, seem to like them better when they have the tender fresh growth. We have never mowed ours b/c usually the deer keep them mowed down for us...I would be tempted to mow at least a plot or a portion of your plots to see if it makes a difference.
