Anybody on here know how to tell the age of a coca cola bottle? I know very little about them but found a glass one from Selma Alabama this weekend. There's no date on it. It's a 6 1/2oz bottle and the only other markings on it (besides the name and trademark registered) is a 64-05 embossed on the side.

Just wondered if it might be a couple years old or a couple of decades old.

The Coke bottling plant in Selma closed a number of years ago so I can tell you it is old and somewhat collectable to people that want a bottle from every plant. I see them on Ebay from time to time. Sorry I can't tell you more.

Several on Ebay right now from different times. Maybe that will help you age yours.

If it is "old" a bottleing plant and date will be moulded into the bottom of the bottle.

Yea, I'm having trouble pinning this down. Google is failing me.

But I have been able to figure out that the circle c in the bottom means it's from the Chattanooga bottle and glass company. The "trademark registered in US patent office" means it's after the late 1950s.

I'm sure the 64-05 is a date code, but I can't find if it means 1964 or some time after that.

if you have a pic I can tell you a lot about it including the age and worth. Is it a straight sided bottle? (not ribbed like the newer ones) Is there any date on the bottom or any lettering other than the town where made. Old Coke bottles have become very collectable in the last few years. Send me a pic and if you want to sell I can make you an offer on it or just keep it as they will go up in value.

I have one from the old bottling plant in Athens that's stamped 1923. Most all of the really old ones will have the date on the bottom.

the coke bottles that are worth some money are the straight sided bottles (not ribbed as the new ones are) is the 1923 one patented dec. 25 1923. There are some patented Dec. 25 1923 and they are called Christmas cokes and are somewhat rare.

It's straight sided and doesn't have Dec 25 on it...just 1923.

It's not a straight side bottle. Markings are the raised coca cola lettering, trademark registered in us patent office, 6.5 full ounces. Selma Alabama with a circle c on the bottom. There is a 64-05 on the side.

I'm assuming it's from the 1960s and can't imagine e it would be worth much at all. I just thought it was a cool old bottle so I cleaned it up and put it in the window sill.

A friend of mine has one that is around a 1895 or so Coke bottle. I'll see if I can get a picture.

I've got a case of old coke bottles (with the green glass) that have Apalachicola, FL on the bottoms. They were bottled at the old Apalachicola bottling plant. That closed in the early 80's so they are at least 30 years old.

I have the 30"? display bottle with that date. They call them Mae West bottles I think.

if you can send me a picture. If it is straight sided and not ribbed it could be worth money.
