I'm in Haleyville, which is Winston county Alabama. Does anyone know of any FFL's fairly close, that will transfer a long gun received from an individual out of state? I've asked 4 locally and that will only receive from another FFL.

It's perfectly legal. I just think some FFL's are intimidated that they might loose their liscense. I had one guy call his fed rep and he told me the fed rep told him not to do it. I think it's more a matter of intimidation rather than legality. The above FFL told me his fed guy actually told him that the law was whatever he said it was.

I remember John from The Sportsmans Center. I hadn't thought of him. I have a buddy who is good friends with him. I'll ask him.

I've never talked to an FFL that will receive from an individual.

The FFL I use will receive from an individual. There should be a list on gunbroker.

I use Hudson Pawn in Jasper. It's behind Marvins.

Hudson told me he couldn't even though he knows me and I've bought a few guns from him.

Do you think your guy would do it for me? How far is he from Haleyville?

I've got a local shop that will do the transfer for $20 but I'll have to get my seller to ship from an FFL which he says costs him $50. Depending on how much an FFL will charge and how far I'll have to drive, I might as well pay my seller the extra $50

Aldridge Pawn in Hamilton. He has received firearms from non-FFL's on multiple occasions. I think he normally charges $20 for a transfer.

There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.

There is absolutely no reason in why a dealer would not do it. Other than ignorance to the law. Some people just beause they have the license are not smart! Just because people have a driver license doesn't mean they are professional drivers. It is perfectly legal. All the store owner has to do is make a phone call and check to see if the weapon is registered as stolen. If not he is clear and will have you fill out a 4473. That's it.

Just ask yourself how much trouble are you willing to go thru and how much risk would you be willing to take for 20$. Right or wrong it's their license and their choice. I saw a simple transfer turn into a headache once when an individual shipped a gun to a FFL to be picked up by the person that bought it. Well person that bought it was denied when called in. So what happens now. FFL holder is stuck in the middle and seller don't want to take back buyer wants gun or money back and FFL holder has to keep dealing with an individual's unhappy customer all for 20$ he ain't even gonna get now.

thats a fair point but everyone's issue seems to be with the dealers that use the word "couldnt" rather than "wouldnt". if they say they dont want to its their right and I respect that. if they say they couldnt, as in it isnt legal, they are either being ignorant or dishonest and I have trouble respecting that at all. if they dont want the hassle they just just be up front and say that not spread a bunch of disinformation just to save face. its irresponsible, especially considering how cloudy these type issues already can be.

Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!
