never buy anything perishable from Walmart, especially meat. Walmart is only good for canned pre-packaged stuff. Buy your grocery store meat from a local store with a meat man you know personally.

I've been told by successful cattle farmers to never buy beef from wal-mart I don't mean to be rude by asking this, but what would a cattle farmer know about the beef walmart sells?

True cattle farmers [I mean the guys that base their living off of it]know just about everything there is to know about beef ,where it goes, where it comes from ,who gets what, who produces the best, who has the best quality control and so on and so on....

I know from 32 years experience that if you get more than 3 days shelf life out of ground beef then you are doing something extra like gassing or preservatives. The only thing I trust from wally world is name brand prepacks like lunchmeats, sausage, bacon and such.I cut my own meats at the store but if I am away from home I usually go to an independent.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Its pretty simple, walmart wharehouses all of their products. That means it sits in storage long before it makes it to the shelves so you can buy it. Even a tomato or pound of ground beef has probably sat a week or two before you got a chance to buy it.

We have ground approximately 4,200 pounds of ground chuck since tuesday and I can tell you with certainty that not one pack of that burger will last more than 4 days under Ideal conditions without some kind of preservation.Grinding of any kind goes through a "heat" during processing. The 4 bladed knife forms friction against the plate and warms the beef which in turn greatly reduces the shelf life of the product. That is why it is so important to get it back into a 28-30 degree temp as soon as it is processed.

If you guys are making venison burgers that are too dry, then you just suck at cooking it. Period. I could feed you a venison burger that I grind myself and you'd eat it, love it, and go back for another one.

My wife buys their burger meat every now and then, I throw a fit every time. When you can fully cook hamburger meat in a pan and it never looses the spaghetti noodle look, somethings not right.

We don't buy beef, of any kind, at any time of year. I'm thinking of getting my deer ground without beef fat added next season. I'm seriously interested in any little tricks you may use to make deer burgers without drying out. Obviously not overlooking, but other than that I'm interested in any special techniques.

We don't buy beef, of any kind, at any time of year. I love venison if it isn't ground, and ground venison is pretty good in Spaggetti, lasagna, etc., but I have never had good venison in burgers and such. I'm not sure I can explain that. It just tastes different. Do you have any secret seasonings or something that makes it better? I do have beef fat added to it at the processor. I have tried it with and without the fat.

Venison buger: fine chopped and sauted tender onions (keep and use the oil), zesty dressin mix packet, mix with the meat. Can also add crumbled cooked bacon. Cook M-W on grill not flat top. Let them rest covered 5 minutes before presentation.

I've always used sausage, never used hamburger. I make it with deer sausage, thats one of the reasons I get so much deer sausage i quit making deer sausage when i started hog hunting, hog sausage tastes a little better and i dont have to buy bacon to add to it, made 27 lbs the other day for 2.50

If you guys are making venison burgers that are too dry, then you just suck at cooking it. Period. I could feed you a venison burger that I grind myself and you'd eat it, love it, and go back for another one.
We don't buy beef, of any kind, at any time of year. This^^^^. We haven't bought meat in years, other than lunch meat.

I cook my venison burgers in a skillet, with a light coating of vegetable oil. I do not add any other fat products or bacon. If I wanted to eat pork or beef fat I would eat pork or beef. I eat venison because it's much healthier. Adding fat defeats the entire purpose of eating it. They cook in their own juices and oil, retaining moisture. If you cook them more than medium well you have overcooked them and they will be dry. Add chopped onion and garlic, precooked, into the meat patties with cracker girl original spicy seasoning. I promise most of you would prefer that to a beef patty any day.
