I've been planning to buy some new rubber hunting boots for the upcoming season. I'd been looking at Muck Arctic Pro's... at least until they went PETA on everyone. I might still consider then regardless.

So here's a question - when you buy insulted rubber hunting boots, do you buy a size larger to allow for thick socks, etc. or do they normally true to size? And if you don't like Muck anymore, who do you recommend? My requirements are 18" rubber boots, insulated, and got a good warranty.

AT LEAST A SIZE BIGGER TO ALLOW FOR THE WARM AIR TO CIRCULATE. GET YOU A GOOD LINER SOCK AND THEN ANOTHER PAIR WITH AT LEAST 85% MERINO WOOL

I always wear Lacrosse rubber boots. Always try any boot on before you buy.

Luckily I already own 3 pair of Mucks and I'm gonna keep wearing them until they don't work anymore...mine are the same size as my tennis shoes. I wear a thin liner sock for the walk into the stand, then take that off and put on a good merino wool sock for the sit.

I've been wearing the Under Armour HAW 800 gram boots the past several years.... Wouldn't trade em for any boot I've had in the past.... I used to be a Lacrosse fan but the last pair of Alpha Burly's I had wore a hole around the ankle from normal wear within a year....

Have not tried on the Under Armour boots, but did pick up a pair, and run my hand down in them, and they felt really rough around the ankles, kind of like they may rub your ankles raw. No issues for you?

None buddy... I love them.... This will be my third year in them.... I love the flexibility of the neoprene and waterproof up close to the knee.... Most comfortable walking boot I've worn in the woods.... If they weren't so dang hot.... I'd wear em all of turkey season.....

I wear rubber boots every day in the rice fields. I usually go through a pair a year. I bought a pair of the aeroheads this spring and they are still goin strong. Very comfortable boot, little heavy but comfortable.

I have a pair of these on the way.

http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/ua-hawmadillo/pid1250121-946

I have a pair of these going on the 3rd season with them. They have be a great pair of light water proof boats that are still going strong.

http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/mens-the-haw-boot/pid1221188-242

And I will own a pair of these before late winter.

http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/mens-ua-haw-insulated-hunting-boots/pid1230873-946

I will say UA boots have been the best pair of hunting boots I have ever owned as for being light, comfortable and last more than a few years. I have owned all the other and in my opinion nothing compares in the same price range.

Lacrosse Aeroheads. You're welcome.

Best hunting boot made hands down. Warm, comfortable, and you can't tear them up.

The current pair I have now is non-insulated. I have hunted some extremely cold weather with them. Now my feet did get cold on the really cold days plus I was hunitng in 3' foot of snow while in IL last season. These boots are all I have worn the past two seasons. They do well in our temps with the right socks on your feet.

I plan to buy the 800 gram boots for my late season hunts up north. Several of my buddies own these and have great things to say about this boot in really cold temps.

What I like about them the most is they are light and comfortable!!

Awesome thanks. I figured they would work with all our temps and the right socks and preparation

These are the best boots I've ever had. My feet freeze in lacrosse. I think they are out of stock though.

I always wore Lacrosse, until Mucks came on the scene. Now I have no choice but to burn my Muck boots and go back to Lacrosse. I always like Lacrosse anyway. They stand up to abuse longer than Mucks, and the only reason I wore Mucks was because they were slightly more comfortable. Back to Lacrosse now.

Matt do you not like soemthing about the UA boot? I find them very similar to Mucks but much lighter and better made. I quite buying Lacrosse due to them cracking around the ankle area after one year use. The new one everyone speaks highly of does appear to be a better boot.

I've got a pair of UA Haw (I think that's right) boots that I got the first year they came out. I like them better than Mucks unless it's 20 degrees or colder. They are much easier to walk in than Mucks.

Fur get you a pair of the 800 gram HAW boots for those temps and you will be set. Several of my buddies have the 800's and love them in cold weather. I am going to buy a pair a little later in the year to try myself.

Irish Setter Rutmasters. Comfortable and warm. They're well made too.

I would like to try the UA boots but I have huge calves and they don't appear to have a gusset like lacrosse. I tried on mucks and it felt like there was a tourniquet on my calves & that was just a sock on, not tucking my pants in there like when I'm hunting.

Dang y'all are killing me talking about insulated rubber boots. I start wearing them Oct. 15 and my feet burn up in the uninsulated most of the year.

Ive had just about everything at one time or another. The UA HAW is the most comfortable boot ive ever owned. Super light.
