I can tell you now what my 9 year old will get when he's 16. A 2015 4x4 Toyota 4-runner. I know because I'm about to purchase one for my next work vehicle that my company gives me a vehicle allowance for. I'll drive it for 5 years and then he can have it when I have to purchase another company vehicle, in 5 more years as required. He better hope I take good care of it. grin

I'll get my son the most expensive biggest truck I can afford cause I want him to marry the richest landowning girl he can get. laugh
Now my daughter will get a Chevette, two pistols, and shooting classes.

Yes, you too could be a bad parent by Aldeer standards, but we are giving used Toyotas, maybe we're safe. wink

I told my 13 year old that he makes AB honor role until he turns 16 you will see him driving a white raptor. I will give him what he wants if he makes the grades. That's what he said he wanted. rolleyes

Nothing wrong with that at all,but from what I've read on here, most of the post stereotype these kids as having a silver spoon stuck up their asses and don't have to do anything, those kids may have part time jobs, they may help with the family business, just because some of these kids have material things doesn't mean they don't have good work ethic or will be let down later in life, most kids that have wealthy parents end up doing pretty good for themselves as adults,my point is what people buy with their money is nobody else's business

That is true. But an expensive vehicle is not a wise investment. We all want our kids to have safe and reliable transportation but fancy wheels, tires and chrome are just window dressing.

I for one am glad all these spoiled brats have these trucks. That's just somebody else taking the huge deprecation hit so poor rednecks like me have a hope in hell of affording a nice used truck.

This thread seems to be about jealousy more than anything. I think most of us including my self are jealous to a certain extent but some more than others.

It only bothers me because it seems to me to be a sign of the excess that's become such a problem in our society. When I was much younger, if you financed a car you couldn't go more than 5 years. And the cost of a car or truck ran about ten percent of middle class people made in a year. Now you can finance a car for 7 years and the price is sometimes as much as half of what an average middle class persons yearly income is.

I only worry about because of the values that I think it's teaching to these youth ...... The same ones that will running things when I'm in my sunset years.

Would I have taken an expensive car when I was that age? You dang right I would. But now in middle age I am so grateful that it wasn't an option.
