We were at Logans once. Waitress SUCKED. After she took our drink order, it was 45 min till she got our food order. That was the last time we saw her. The waitress in the next section took care of us and did a great job.

When we finished, I caught the two waitresses and the manager all standing together. I walked up to the three of them and gave the good waitress a generous tip and explained to the sucky waitress why she didn't get a tip.

I met a client this morning at Cracker Barrel today and went on a site visit. When we finished our visit this afternoon and got back to the truck we decided to go back to the Cracker Barrel to discuss some other projects over some coffee. The other guy and I both ordered coffee and politely told the waitress that we had already eaten and were just having coffee. It was around 3 so of coarse it was not busy at all but we were there about an hour discussing things. Anyway, the waitress did not come back to our table a single time to offer a refill or ask if we wanted anything else. It was obvious that we were talking business so it must be protocol for waitresses at Cracker Barrel to stop serving people that are using their tables for business (even if they order something and it's not busy at all).

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet but trying to be objective. Maybe it was wrong for me to utilize their table as my office or maybe they should have refilled my coffee cause I may just pass next time Cracker Barrel is suggested.

Coffee isn't a revenue-producer. You told her you weren't ordering anything. Y'all were worthless to them to generate any money.

And they, and other businesses, don't care what you might do or when you might return. Their only concern is the here and now, and making that buck.

Your right Clem, that's exactly the way we were treated (either right or wrong). I do know that for 2 coffees it was 5 bucks so they did benefit from my hour meeting even in the slightest. Good point though, they don't need my long-term service cause that table will be taken by the next person in line so why continue to serve me. Big businesses don't care but small business do.

I should have just had coffee at the local coffee shop and then I wouldn't be complaining.

I see this crap all the time at tables nearby while i eat out.
They order food with the full intent of "having some sort of problem" once the bill arrives so they can argue their way out of paying. Maybe waiters should start taking tables orders like that with the manager present while videoing it.

If I don't like the food or service at a place I don't go back. Seen a lot of people show their ass over their order or how long it took like one of their constitutional rights has been violated. Don't really see the point in it.

We meet at the Destin Cracker Barrel occasionally and never have any kind of problems, doesn't matter if we eat or just have a glass of tea.

Wasn't chastising. I've done the same.

But you're right about Big vs. Small. The Big will ignore you because you're taking up a table, and they don't care if you don't come back for a few months. They believe you'll eventually return (and, unfortunately, most of us do).

The Small will pour coffee down your neck with a funnel and help you go pee because they want you back. They NEED you back, so they don't mind taking a few bucks and brewing coffee while you and Jimmy Joe meet for an hour in the afternoon. Hell, they're getting ready for evening service anyway. Your two cars our front show folks someone's there and that's probably more important than the five bucks for coffees.

I can say for sure that the cracker barrel in Greenville Al isn't that way. The service is consistent..consistently bad. Poorly managed and it seems that there is no rhyme or reason to what servers wait on what table. I have sat there many times for 5 to 10 minutes before being waited on. There aren't many other dining options or I'd never go back.

We've always had good service at the Madison Cracker Barrel. They seem to hire folks who talk English and are not from Chicago.
