I'm with you PRB. Guntersville and Arab? I don't see that. All you have to do it look at the criminal court filings. It isn't rocket science. Mexicans maybe? They have plenty over that way. Their are very few Mexicans at all in Arab. I'd venture to guess that Arab's population is 99.9% white. I'm not saying that white folks don't commit crime but they had to do some serious manipulation to come up with the numbers to get Arab on the list. Other than a few shoplifting and thieving methheads, not much goes on. Maybe they used shoplifting crimes in their study? They obviously didn't use violent crimes, which is what most would look at when considering an area "dangerous". Thieves are everywhere and a part of life. I'd much rather deal with a few of those than to worry about walking down the street and being mugged. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable at all walking through any part of Arab after dark, unarmed. The last, and only, homicide that I can remember in Arab happened to be my uncle, in 2000. He was shot and killed by his son in law at his daughter's tanning business.

I would have figured Montgomery and Selma To be up around 1 and 2.

Those stats are based on crimes per 1,000 people. One bad year in a small population area will skew the results pretty sharply. One year we had a mass murder of 6 people in Crenshaw County (some of ya'll may remember that one) it was a bad domestic based murder isolated to two bad apples in a family disagreement. But because of that case it really skewed the crime stats for that year.

Arab? Guntersville? I'm not sure where they got their info but whoever was in charge should be in a different line of work. Some places may belong on that list, others not so much. Maybe the crime there is "undocumented"

I'll vouch for Talladega. Surprised its not higher. I would have bet you money that Talladega would be number 1 or 2 on the list.

wonder what makes those cities so "unsafe"? Crime? They can't swim, so they drown?? (somebody will get that eventually)
