I got a buddy looking for a yellow lab pup. He wants a good bloodline and doesn't want to pay more than $600. Any recommendations of any breeders? Thanks.

Give Dianne at Mountain Springs Farm in Springville a call. I got my pup from her a month ago and she 7 left. They are 11 weeks old and from a good bloodline. Here is her website: http://m.mountainspringfarmlabs.com

I would not pay a dime for a puppy that came from a breeder that bred charcoal, silvers and other dilutes. For the money your looking to spend you can get a dog with a performance pedigree complete with health clearances. No offense but that breeder is outing out junk.

I really have an issue with people trying to pass those colors off

I would not buy a puppy from these people. My in-laws just bought a puppy from them in June. Turns out that the puppy had a broken leg and the breeders never knew it. It healed up in a strange way and now the puppy limps severely.

Any place where you have so many puppies that you cannot notice one with a broken leg is a puppy mill.

Everybody can do what they want to but I would never buy a puppy from them.

I am asking out of ignorance, honestly not trying to start anything what is wrong with silvers, charcoals etc.

They are dilutes carrying recessive genes, their is debate if silvers are even full blooded labs. People who breed for these colors have a complete disregard for the dogs working ability. They are breeding two dogs that carry recessive genes to get these genes. Health, soundness, and working ability/drive be damned.

I bought a yellow female that was four months old from Mountain Spring in June and she has a great temperament, retrieves well and has learned several commands in spite of my ineptness as a trainer. Not going to enter the debates around breeding practices but its obvious they are in the high volume business. I was allowed plenty of time to spend with the pup before I purchased and knew she was sound as far as limbs and such. BTW her male mate is still available….

I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. Most maybe but not all people that are breeding these dogs are just worried about color. I currently have 2(male and female) of these so called silver labs. Both of which hold a SH titles and health clearances. They are some of the best hunting dogs that I have had a pleasure to hunt with.

If a breeder has checked and certified the hips, elbows and eyes through OFA then had the genetic testing for EIC & CNM, they are trying to breed sound dogs. If they have spent the time and the money to title those dogs then they are trying to breed dogs that will hunt. Much better breeding protocol than 90% of the litters on Craigslist.

I have to say my buddy has a silver lab and he is one of the best ive ever seen. I think chocolate and blacks are prettier though.

I'm not sure I would either give them a call or email them, you should be able to get a phone number or email from their website

Hickory Nut Kennels in Cullman, AL breeds great dogs. I personally have two yellow labs that I have purchased from James and could not be more pleased with them. They are more than you are wanting to spend but I do believe it was well worth the extra money.
