Hey guys. I'm not sure what to get between 4 wheeler or utv. I'd like the room of honda pioneer 700. But how is it navigating in the trees. Alston crossbow vs. Compound bow. Thanks for your time.

I like my 4 wheeler. Easier to haul, just put it in the pickup and easier to maneuver in the woods.

Utv / compound. To me, the only advantage a four wheeler has is maneuvering thru tight spots. Oh yeah, ranger 900!

For me, it's just preference. I enjoy archery hunting and I feel like I have a gun in my hands with a cross bow. Just my .02

I got ya. I just would like the longer shot opportunity as I seldom see large bucks and refuse to shoot a buck that I will not mount. At least 130 class for now.

I would say compounds are more accurate than crossbows at longer ranges...Silence is a big advantage of compounds too...they aren't much slower than crossbows but I've yet to hear a quiet crossbow...maybe there are some out there but I've never heard one...

As far as ATV vs UTV, it would depend on terrain, intended uses, and budget...if you have the place and budget, I go with a Polaris 900

This is a Common misconception with crossbows. You have no more range than with a compound. If anything more range with a compound because a CB is so frigging loud.

Another thing to consider is the amount of mud you'll encounter. Our club is red clay from one end to the other. When it's sloppy wet in the winter, it's impossible to ride the roads on an ATV without getting covered in mud. I don't care how slow and careful you drive, you get covered, not to mention, your gear does too.

An ATV is easier to transport though. Having to drag the trailer for the UTV is a little annoying. Other than that, you'll love the Honda. I have a 2012 Big Red 700 in Olive Green.

No right or wrong answer on either question. Weigh pros and cons of each. ATV vs UTV? Budget, size, weight, meneuverability, terrain, etc, then make the choice thats right for you. I went ATV as I don't need or want the added size and weight of the UTV. Compound vs crossbow? Same process. I went crossbow as I don't have the practice time to invest in becoming proficient with a vertical bow.

If the woods you hunt in are thick and really swampy, buy the ATV. When you get a Polaris stuck-you have trouble. I can do a lot more with the 4 wheeler than with the side by side any day of the week. Storage area is the only downfall I have ever had with a 4 wheeler.

Forgot to add, if momma likes to ride with you, the UTV is the way to go. ATV will burn her legs when you double up with her.

I would love to have a utv, but there's no way in hell, i'm paying 10-12 thousands dollars for one. You can buy 2 new atvs for the price of one utv. Atv will go get a deer in the timber, you would tear the sides and roof off a utv, where i hunt. The utv's i've been around are very noisy. Crossbows, to me are bulky and cumbersome. They have their advantanges. I prefer compound, although you can hunt out of shooting house easier with crossbow. No holding with crossbow, but damn thier loud.

For the price of a UTV you can get a older Toyota 4X4 and a 4 wheeler. You can drive the truck to town legally.

Well ya'll should have known that was coming. laugh

If you hunt public land you usually can't use either an Atv or utv due to restriction of them from the public property, much less thieves stealing them every chance they get.

If you have a shoulder problem and can't pull back a bow or are very old go with a crossbow. I'll bow hunt until I can't pull one back and then I might consider getting a crossbow. Not sure on the other question, I always walk to my stands but have a 4wheeler i ride trails with and love it, never been in an UTV.

Many fellows have damn near lost their fingertips to a crossbow. Learn to shoot it correctly. I also know a guy that broke a limb on his crossbow trying to shoot it out of a shooting house. It's not as easy as you think. It's not a gun.
