Drone

Come on! I guess some would call it a drone, but that word sounds so dirty. I call it a quadcopter with a camera attached to it.

What is the law or code on use of drones and hunting? Where is 49er when you need some C&P..

Thats what I was thinking, I could cover 20 greenfields and see if anything was feeding in them quick like.

The laws are pretty strict with those things.. Cant use em.. I believe it falls under the "harassment of animals"

How much did that thing costed?

I saw a couple of pools when it first took off. Those might bear looking at more closely from time to time

I'm such a good neighbor I will always keep a close eye on my friends next door This one is actually pretty affordable can be gotten for around $500 but you can spend as much as you please on them. Only have around 15/mins of runtime on the copter but spare batteries are only $35 or so. Camera and controller last a lot longer than that.

You will be getting a visit from the FAA and FCC real soon.

Haven't figured out the range, but it's supposed to be around 1,000 feet or so. The camera has a 10x digital zoom. I can watch the camera and stop/start recording on my phone out to about 300 feet. The camera is supposedly nothing special, but it looks ok to me. It will hold a go-pro as it uses the same mount type, but it is heavier and would lower the runtime. As for the FCC/FAA I believe the laws say RC devices are fine as long as they stay below 400 feet, but I doubt they are real concerned about me.

I have a guy here at work that is building one. He is a electronics guru. He tells me that once he's finished it will have the capability to range from Bham to Nashville and back on one battery charge and top speed will be close to 70 mph. We are supposed to tinker around with it in a few weeks.

Very very cool. With the right engineering them critters can be programmed to go miles on gps coordinates and return the same path.

Won't be long and they'll be delivering your pizza's with them. Eventually, these things will deliver almost everything that a human would deliver.

They had to ban them at Barber Motorsports Park. They were getting too popular and people were flying them over the track while bikes and cars were on course. It was a safety issue.
The professional tv camera crews are allowed to use them.

I've seen all sizes of them and would love to have one.

From a business aspect, the savings on fuel, time, wages and over head will be astounding. The problem will be when there are thousands of these things crashing and being high jacked every day. I'm going to start delivering (legal) prescription drugs. Walgreens and cvs will make me RICH!
