I go but my back don't let me rough it too rough. We usually split a hotel or cabin.

I'd like to look into doing this as well. Public land DIY out of state. Do you have to apply for tags or just buy a license in Kentucky?

My buddies have been going to Kansas the last few years and have killed some decent deer. I think they spend under a grand hotel included.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I would like more info on this also. I guess every state is different as far as having available tags? It would be good if someone could post a list of the states and what an out of state license cost as well as the tag.

been hunting Kansas the last few years. It's an application process. 100% draw if you apply by the deadline. If you don't apply left over tags went on sale I believe on July 1st. You apply to a certain unit. Whatever unit you get a tag for its good for any unit that touches your unit. Unfortunately I'm prettysure they are sold out of tags for this year.

Last year I went to the MS delta and hunted a refuge. I stayed in a cabin nearby, I was by myself and hunted for 3 days. Total cost including gas was about $600. I saw 7 bucks and 13 does, had a decent 2-3yo eight point in range, he had a broke off g3, and might have scored 110-115. I saw an enormous buck coming out on my first day. Had a blast and plan on going again this year.
