Hey guys. Figured some of y'all might help me out. Me and a couple of my buddies go out of state fishing every year for salmon. This year we have decided to try to go on a paid deer hunt instead. There are three of if us who just like to hang out and have a good time away from work for a few days. If we kill that's great if not that's just fine too as long as we are enjoying our time. We are trying to figure out somewhere in Alabama to go. Preferably a 4 day all inclusive hunt. Anybody have any suggestions? We would like to stay in the 1500 or less price range. Thanks in advance.....

Guess I should say we want to do a rifle hunt in early gun season. Where in Alabama doesn't matter.

Westervelt Lodge in Pickens County, but that's at least $1550 for a 2 day hunt.
I could be wrong, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find an all inclusive hunt anywhere for under $400/day for whitetail.

1600 for 4 days isn't out if the question. That's why I need help to figure out what's out there. I'd rather not spent that for 2 days though.

If you're open to other suggestions, you can dang sure do a duck hunt in the AR/MS delta for that amount.

You need to sign up for an Academy Hunt. These are private schools that provide hunts all over the Black belt area - a Friday Afternoon hunt, Saturday morning and afternoon and a Sunday morning hunt for under $1k. Lodging is extra but they feed you 1 meal on Friday and 2 on Saturday. Try these schools -Hooper Academy , Morgan Academy, Chambers. Well worth the money. ALL hunts are during the rut in their areas.

Try leavellwood farms in Greene county. Give them all call and see what they can work out with you. It's a top-notch operation.

I'd be happy to help you out with a Lowndes Academy School Hunt. The hunt will be in Lowndes County January 16-18, 2015. The cost is $800 per hunter which includes meals and lodging and you will have access to some outstanding private property in Lowndes County. We are only having around 35 hunters total this upcoming year and we still have spots available.

I'm guessing the school hunts would be tax deductable?

Here is a link to the Morgan Academy hunt. The dates for 2015 haven't been announced yet, but it will be a weekend in the middle of January.

yes, they are tax deductible. great for helping the children and a benefit to you. some of these schools could not make it without the extra income the hunts provide. we've been attending the conecuh springs hunt since '06. the people you meet will become lifelong friends and you can watch the children grow. it's nice to return every year and see the changes. it's fantastic!!

Interested to see some more opinions about this. I'm deployed to Afghanistan right now and me a a few buddies are looking for some place to go on a trip in January if we're home by then.

I've looked at the benefit hunts but it looks like most don't include lodging or lodge you in a hotel , and we would like to be able to stay in a lodge as a group.

We are probably looking to stay in the 3 day 1500.00 range, and family hunts would be better since most of us would be carrying kids.

If anybody has any info on a good lodge or if any of the benefit hunts have lodges available for rent during the hunt please let me know.

Thanks

The Lowndes Academy School Hunt includes lodging. We lodge our hunters at different private camps and lodges around the County and they are usually housed by group so everyone in your group could stay together. Or you could check out the Southern Sportsman Lodge near White Hall which is the headquarters for the hunt. All meals and deer cleaning are done at the lodge. They usually house hunters for our hunt. Check them out at Southern Sportsman Lodge . Even if you chose not to do a school hunt, the Southern Sportsman Lodge would be a good hunting operation to consider. Jim Mason and Dave Lyon have been in they hunting business for over 30 year and they run a first class outfit. They are friends so I am probably a little biased but you should check them out.
