Which ones do y'all shoot? I looked at some earlier and there were several different types. 2 or 3 blades? Slip cam or o-rings?

Brad,

People love Rage but you should also look at NAP Killzones. Very simular without the rings. A few guys here have shot them with good results. I am considering them for this season.

I've been shooting Thunderhead 100s with good success. For no good reason, I was thinking about trying a mechanical broadhead. I'll look at the Killzones, since they are NAPs.

The early 3 blades had issues with the blades opening. To my knowledge the 2 blades have never had an issue. I've been using the 2 blades since they came out with out an issue. I've never had one come open in flight, I do however change my orings every year, and make sure they are locked in place when I nock one.

Yep! I shot the early model 3 blades for 1 season and was overall disappointed! The deer I found were incredible blood trails, but I shot them for the 1.5" hole and when I needed them to work they didn't! And I missed a buck one morning with this broad head. I drew back and got my pin settled, roughly 18 yd shot. I just happened to notice that 1 of the blades was sticking out like it was already opened, didn't have time to let down and fix it so I aimed a lil high and hopes for the best.... Didn't work out!! I'm sure this would of happened with any broadhead if the blade were out like that. Still don't know how that happened as I'm usually careful and check for that, the one time I don't I got burned! Rage had improved a lot since then I'm sure but I'm snake bit with them!

What poundage are y'all shooting with the Extremes? Do you get pass throughs most of the time? I was thinking the Rage SS would be the ones I would use to increase the odds of pass throughs.

Orginal 2 blade cut on contact, 29 1/2" draw, 70lbs Easton axis 340. Pass through every time unless I hit the off side shoulder.

Sorry guys. The new tablet is putting words and numbers out as it sees fit. It was 60lbs. I'm sure I would have let it walk if it was 6lbs. grin

I ran into the problems with the early 3 blades. Went to a fixed blade and will prob never change. I know the Rage is an awesome head but I simply lack confidence in it.

I shoot extremes or hypodermics. I still have some original two blades as well. Can't go wrong with any of them. The extremes leave a monster exit though!

Arrow weight can make a huge difference! Draw weight does not correlate with speed either.
There's a big difference between killing 100lb does and 200lb bucks, you can't have to much KE IMO.

KE is precisely what I was. concerned with. Evidently there is enuf with my setup to penetrate fully but it wouldn't hurt my feelings to up my draw weight a bit to get more

I've shot one doe with a rage original two blade, and at 61 yards I had a complete pass through. I think I'm shooting the hypodermics this year

I shot 3 bladed heads when they came out and they opened early all of the time. I now have a crossbow and shooting Spitfires (100 grn). Is the Rage crossbow heads any good?

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern
