I hunted Cahaba last weekend. There was a decent amount of pressure in spots I was interested in. I was only able to hunt a couple of short afternoons. I think it’ll be tough there until the rut. I also think one will need to be ready to hunt creative or hard. Find overlooked spots or hoof it. Also I noticed that a lot of areas are no longer part of WMA. Anyone know why it’s getting smaller?

I hunt Cahaba. I've been out there almost everyday since ML started and gun hunts. Defintely was busy Saturday. Feel free to PM me. Always up to make a friend. No gun hunts until the 15th wil a ML week starting Monday. Should settle things down. I am seeing does. Saw a buck a week ago Sunday. Sunday's seem to be pretty quiet out there. Saturday's the busiest.

A lot of that WMA is leased from timber companies. All the timber companies have to do is not lease it to the state. Trust me the state is trying to buy as much of it as possible. We've lost a lot of good WMAs over the years because of lost leases. Baldwin County, Covington, Boykin, and Escambia Creek WMAs to name a few.

I know all the land they have lost the last few years on the north side of the Cahaba off of 13 has been sold. The only piece left over there is bow/small game only.

They are selling timber co land around columbiana like its going out of style. I thought the higher interest rates might curb that some, but it doesn't seem to be.

Past Ol’ man Finley’s plac...

If you are going to hunt Cahaba successfully/ consistently here is some free advice. I don’t hunt the wma like I used to but from 2017- 2020 I had a pretty good run.

Scout the week of the gun hunts and hunt the hottest freshest buck sign you find. If you are going off of 2 week old intel you will be playing from behind. Some people don’t believe in hunting scrapes but every buck I killed out there I was set up within 50 yards of a fresh one. I’m not talking about scrapes on the edge of a field either. I’m talking about scrapes you had to put some effort in to find.

Don't worry about how far you can see. If you only have a 50 yard shot but that’s where the sign in, that’s where you need to be.

The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

I don’t think I understand how to PM. How does this work and where do you see notifications?
