When I was a kid, I lived on the ball field. Whether it was my dad throwing to me or homerun derby with buddies.

In both Northport and Cullman they have the fields locked up and only available for use if rented. I know Sokol Park in Northport is $40 an hour. Below is a comment from a friend about the Cullman fields.

It rubs me the wrong way having to pay for what my taxes already bought. Am I out of line? Sounds like yet another money grab, but maybe I’m missing something.

“Joe Lambert totally agree but unfortunately unless it’s baseball season and you are a CP&R team scheduled to practice you have to rent them. We were a CP&R all star team that made it to state semi-finals and couldn’t get fields to practice on after regular season. Travel teams book them by the hour and pay to use them.“

Clanton recently locked the light boxes for there fields. You can still use them during the day but if you want lights it’s $25 a hr. I agree it’s bs we have to pay for what we already are forced to pay for.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Yeah like most boat ramps. Taxes pay for them then we have to pay a launch fee.

Maybe we should send the city a bill for all the free work we did on public fields over the years.
