I have not tried any of that stuff, and apparently no one else has either, which is why their stock has lost 70%. Good to hear Bill Gates was a heavy investor in that crap. I imagine they have burned through some money.

Cows, Pigs and Chickens already take vegetables and turn them into meat. Why do we need a scientist to do it in a big factory.

I've had samples of this crap at Costco.

Not even close to the real thing and it can't be healthy with all of the artificial ingredients in it.

I'll stick with the real thing.

I just got in on the ground floor of this process. I just ate a fried egg sandwich for breakfast, with cabot shredded cheese.

My wife is a vegetarian and said she doesn't like beyond meat products at all. She does like some of the other brands of fake meats. (Don't ask me why) So they are already limiting their customer base to vegetarians and then limiting it even further to those vegetarians that actually like their products. Sounds like a great business model. I think Gates should pour more money into it.

Note; my wife isn't one of the animal rights nutcases. As a matter of fact she has killed deer herself and doesn't mind helping me process meats or cooking it for me. She says it's healthier and that is why she prefers to eat that way. We agreed to disagree on this matter so it's not a problem for us. I get the meat from her plate when we eat out so that's actually a win for me.

I tried that beyond whopper when it came out , just to try it. I wouldn’t have known it wasn’t a regular whopper. In all honesty you don’t order a whopper for a healthy option, so I can’t comment on which one is worse for you. I guess these products are for feel good people that have decided they like the taste of meat, but can’t get over how meat gets to the plate. I just don’t see it as a sustainable business.

My cousin is a vegetarian and used to eat fake hotdogs and hamburgers back in the day. 20 years ago... these fake meat products are not new. Or maybe these just taste better... IDK. If vegetarians want to eat fake hamburgers who cares... why do people get mad about these fake hamburgers. I have never eaten fake meat of any brand... but when I see it at the store I don't think.. "SATAN".

The big vegetarian movement really started in the 1970s... and it has never taken off big time. And its not... because meat taste really good!

Meat made in a lab—cell-based—is coming sooner rather than later. Ideal cuts, the perfect marbling/taste, and it’ll eventually be more cost-efficient than traditional farming. Not yet though. But it will be meat, not plant-based.

I'm sure the time is coming where we will all have 3D food printers in our homes, and you just say what you want to eat and it comes out. Like on Star Trek Next Generation. It will be a while though.

I grew up in the 1960's reading Popular Science and Popular Mechanics magazines. When I was a kid, I fully expected us to have a colony on the Moon and Mars and all of us be running around in flying cars by now, but that hasn't happened yet.

Already growing human tissues in the lab. Why not a ribeye?

Just what I want, meat grown in a lab. I think Irish put it the best, we already have cows, pigs and chickens turning vegetables into meat, why do we need to do it in a lab.
