Funny story on the pecker tree. It's spring turkey season probably 10 yrs ago. I'm on the Cahaba WMA and sitting just inside the tree line waiting on daylight and hopefully a loud mouth gobbler to sound off. It breaks day pretty good, I stand up and turn around and I'm staring at this pecker not 10 ft behind me. I fell out laughing. I mean, what the hell are the chances.

Found a "Pecker Oak" (Water Oak) over in Greensboro once. Pecker was about 5" in Diameter and about a foot long. A PERFECT PECKER it was!! Cut it off and kept it for years....don't know what ever happened to it. Quite the Conversation Piece!!

Russell Mtn Hunting Club up here has one they call Big Dick Tree. They’ve been calling it that for 30 years that I know of, and probably a good bit longer. “Where’d you kill that buck? Down by Big Dick Tree”. 😃

Those are Peckerwoods. They usually grow near Pussywillows.

Western Hemlock in Southeast AK. Awesome firewood, with a burl. We also burned Red & Yellow Cedar, loved the smells from the woodstove.
