I read the Montgomery Stockyard closed recently. But I think they are going to online sales.. not sure what that means.

Solution, buy a freezer, and start buying your meat local. Better quality, better price.

I’ve been hauling out of Ok this week. There are some deals to be had but prices still aren’t too terribly low yet. The yankees are buying them up by the pot loads and aren’t picky about what they’re getting

I know there has to be some money made but i really believe farming is a lifestyle. Theres gona be good times and bad times but something inside you will drive you to keep going. If its all about the money, people will starve. Not everyone is a farmer. Some folks dont have a bit of farmer in them. But if you are a farmer, i would encourage you to do whatever it takes to keep going. Diversify, try new things. Find a way you can keep going. The enemy is trying to destroy us. Farmers have endured more than about any other group on earth, except maybe soldiers. Its not gona get easier, itll get harder. Endeavor to persevere. I know what its like to work months and make nothing. I know how it feels. But i would encourage you, if theres any way possible, get up and go again. When farmers quit farming, people start starving.

Don’t forget cattle cause global warming so I wonder if it’s a part of their plan

There will be a food shortage sooner than later

Most of the production doesnt come from your local good ol' boy or hippie farmer. It is a big time industry that controls the price of food. Most "farmers" are hobby farmers. Very few make a living from it. I have the numbers on my laptop for Missouri and it would amaze you how few "farms" are income producing.

Point is... our production is already in the hands of a very small group. The small farmer is along for the ride. And outside of some smaller cattle farmers who have family land there isnt much money to be made in small operations. Row crop you better have 1000s of acres.

Cheap steak was $16 a pound here at Publix a few days ago. I ain't paying $16 a pound for ribeye. My stopping point is probably $12 a pound. If everyone would quit buying at a certain price, we could control the prices. This is why trucks are 60k. My stopping point is probably 30k or less for a vehicle. It's non sense.

I agree 100%. In a capitalist economy, the consumer sets the price. If the consumer is not buying steaks at $16, Piggly Wiggly is not going to continue to put them on the shelf... they will lower the price or quit buying from the package plants. Then the package plants start lowering the price... but it all starts with the consumer.
