We ate at the sassy bass on Ft Morgan Rd this spring while staying at house with 3 other families for soccer tournament. We went for lunch and it was better than I expected. I didn’t hear any complaints out of 10 people.

Also there is a store beside it in the same building that has just about anything grocery wise you would need. They have a seafood and meat counter. Between that store and DG (note: odd hours kept for a DG) you shouldn’t have to stray very far from ft Morgan road if you do not want to.

Cobalt is some of the best food that you will get at the beach but you’re a good 30-40 mins away from Ft Morgan plus wait time there. Tacky Jack’s is not as much tourist food as Lulu’s but it’s not 4 star dining. PoBoys and Sandwiches are on par with most everything else down there. For a meal you would need to go elsewhere. There is a reason Ft Morgan is out there by itself. Enjoy the beach without the hassle of traffic and a crowd.

Go to the Pines boat launch on the bay, fish live shrimp 2' under a popping cork. Right at daylight. Sometimes you can catch live shrimp on the ramp with a dip net if you don't know how to throw a cast net. On Saturday, usually there will be an older gentleman there in an old
white ford truck. Stay out of his way and leave him be. He gets mad if he only catches one spec. That is the best place there is right now until they get the new pier opened up by the fort. You can also go to the bridge on CR6 going onto plash island and catch a few slot reds
or black drum right now. I launch my yak there the flounder have been biting good in oyster bay.

Crocker, I have drifted off that jetty(Ann the old piers to the east),and hammered rat reds. That whole area is awesome, when the wind is right. Flounders get thick around there the right time of the year. Really pretty area.

It’s a pretty good drive from ft Morgan it’s off the path on canal but OSO bear point in bear point marina was excellent when we went. My folks also are there and had the same experience.

Thanks for all the input. May settle on sassy bass due to distance. Just depends on how trip goes. Thanks for the fishing tips

Yeah. When we were there with some friends earlier this year, we went to Colbalts and it was good. Nice atmosphere too. And our service was good.

We have always enjoyed Cobalts, we are close enough to go by boat, get there before dark watch sunset, eat, idle back to condo, very pleasant evening.
OP, said Ft. Morgan, cobalts will be a hike but, options aren't that great in that area if I remember correctly.

We were staying in fort Morgan as well. Only about a 20-25 minute ride. Not bad for good food, atmosphere and service

Tacky Jack's has a pretty good breakfast. There really aren't a lot of places to eat out that way. Half a blue crab on a circle hook at night for reds. You might luck up and get into some Spanish from daylight until sunrise with spoons, got-cha plugs and bubble rigs in the deeper holes. Suspending Mirrolures in the deep holes early for specks. 3" or 4" curl tail grubs or 3" Gulp shrimp on a jighead during the day for flounder. Not a fan of live shrimp in the surf this time of year due to the presence of so many bait stealers.

OSO is the best kept secret down there. Never a wait and the food is excellent.

Anybody know a good "buy off the boat" shrimp spot near here? I got a spot in Valparaiso but don't know any round here. Wanna come back stocked on scrimps

Sitting on the beach now enjoying a cocktail while the kiddos brave the waves. More crowded than I expected
Plan to find a tackle store n hit up the jetty rocks down the road tomorrow for some flounder. Gonna use a red jig head with a white 4" grub type bait.

Use a chartreuse gulp swimming mullet

If you drive into GS or OB then Doc’s is awesome. Best fried oysters anywhere. Shrimp are great too.

I’m not too familiar with that side of the bay for fresh shrimp, but I know that the store connected to sassy bass had decent shrimp at a decent price. If you take a ride across the bay on the ferry then there are several that are directly off the boat around the bayou and coden.
