We are taking the kids to the river to camp on the sand bar. It has been a while since we have done this, so what should we pack?
NOTE: We will be close to the landing and close to town so if we forget something we can leave, trying to avoid that. However help me not forget anything. So... What are the MUST haves???? and the DO NOT FORGETS!!
I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

Toilet paper, food, drinks….. everything else is just a matter of how luxurious you want it. Also keep in mind the river rises and falls. Beaching your boat could wind up being a disaster. Ask me how I know.

How you are getting to the sand bar will factor into this situation. Kayaking will limit the amount of stuff you can take. If by jon boat or bigger, then you can flesh out your provisions.
Be sure someone knows where you are going and when you are expected to leave and return and that you have an appropriate PFD for everyone either on the person or aboard the vessel(s) depending on age.
Necessities Bottled water (both for drinking and anything else you want clean water for) Food Toilet Paper Wet wipes Sunscreen Insect Repellent First Aid Kit (including Benadryl and Motrin/Tylenol/) Lighter/waterproof matches Change of clothes in a dry bag Trash bags to contain all trash Sleeping accommodations Flashlights/headlamps Machete (in case of Mr. No Shoulders encroaching too close) Small, collapsible shovel
It'd be nice to have... Cooler with ice Any other beverages you might like to have Camera Bluetooth Waterproof Speaker Fishing poles/rods & bait Fish cleaning tools if planning to eat what you catch Small charcoal grill with charcoal or small propane grill Camping chairs and table
I, personally, now take packets of Liquid IV to add to a bottle of water, which will provide extra electrolytes as they take up much less room than trying to carry Gatorade or Powerade as well, even for just a day trip on the kayak.
And, if you are taking a dog with you, too, don't forget clean water and food for it, too.
If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.---Winnie the Pooh

The previous two responses (Huntress and Fred) are all you need in this thread. Your are correct. I had everything they listed on the list, just wanted to double check. Thank you for all your replies.
