Anyone know somewhere in the Montgomery or surrounding area that buys baseball cards? Seems like a few places closed recently. Don’t know if there’s much of a market for them anymore.

I would try Mobile. The collector/trader market for cards is strong along the coast.

The majority of them aren’t worth the paper they are printed on but some are still valuable. There’s a few card shows that happen here about twice a year, I keep meaning to visit them, but haven’t.

The card world has seen a decent resurrection lately in popularity and value.

What do you have that you are looking to unload?

I Hav not looked at cards in years. My high school buddy who was also my college roommate and he also played baseball for auburn collected cards - I thought it was very gay until he got me into it. I ended up collecting for a couple of years. Not sure if there still a market - I still got some cards. My buddy hd some really good cards - Montana rookie - Tony Gwynn Rookie lot of others like that and older

Thanks for the tip Skinny. I have a whole binder full of cards, I haven’t thought about in many years and don’t care anything about. Bonds, McGwire, chipper rookies to name a few that I can remember. I wanted to just sell my whole binder in one lick

I collected em from 89-95 as a kid, I got couple thousand, some full sets...I reckon I'll pass em down unless I hear about a million dollar card in that range before then...

I've got a box full of em. A bunch of full sets and some really good late 80's rookies. I should probably move the whole lot.

What they say a card is worth can be a long distance from what anyone will actually pay for them. They seem to be available for a long time.

With that, I have several good ones from 1971/1972. I've never put them up for sale though.

They need to be in great condition, PSA 8,9, or 10. If they are graded by PSA or someone reputable, you'll get top dollar. Sports cards are through the roof right now. The manufacturers are printing gold. Most of the cards we likely collected are from the junk wax era and we probably handled them a good bit.

Not to give Forbes any traffic, but this is a decent story on the 2016 Topps Transcendence which sold directly from Topps for $22k each. 2003-4 Upper Deck packs with 4 cards sold for $125 each.
