Let me know a rough guess on the size you’re wanting. We have several at work. If one of those doesn’t fit the size you need I have access to some more that are different sizes. Looks to be about 4ft diameter, 3ft wide spool...... Where are you located? Theres a few on facebook marketplace but i sure do hate trying to deal with anybody on there. Going rate is about $50. I would be glad to pay that or a little more if i have to.

Not sure where in Blount Cty you are, but if the "doghouse" connection doesn't work, I sometimes see a sign for "free wood" on west Oxmoor Road in Homewood. They have pallets and wooden spools in that area. It's near the UPS offices, on that side of the road, but the sign faces W Oxmoor. Yep, this is what I was going to post. They have a ton of them.

My college kid built a table and entertainment center out of a spool and packing crates from there.

Dang. That looks sharp for a super cheap shooting table that’s stable and will last!
Don't blame me for your bad decision-

They will last for a few years but will last longer if you put pavers underneath and paint or stain the spool. I made one and put it directly on the ground and it rotted . There’s a place in Homewood off of Oxmoor and Citation Ct. that has stacks of them and they used to give them away. I’m not sure if they still do.

Yeah last one i had was on my deck, and it didn't last very long at all. Heck i even brushed it with some deck sealer

I wouldn’t spend much time fixing one of these up for a shooting bench unless you can find a treated one or have a way to keep it off the ground and out of the weather.
We placed one in large pasture and it was complete trash is less than 2 yrs.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

There’s fold up and/or field benches, for impromptu stuff that are likely as stable and definitely easier to move. For my permanent bench, I was looking at concrete…..but I’ve ended up with some monster slab rock I can make into a platform….which will end and excuses for bench stability. Lol
I had used a couple of spindles for a while, but it took a lot of ground work to get them locked in stable, and I couldn’t cover them from weather. Someone stole them to ride in my in law’s trailer (that they also stole).
