How would you rate this past turkey season on a scale of 1–10? Any and all factors included. I give mine a 3. Not a total bust but not as good as it has been in years past. I’ve had worse seasons though. Some of you are still getting after them and I’m referring to the 2022 season in Alabama. Not asking for numbers or locations or anything like that. Just an honest rating.

This was my 10th season....I didn't even hear my first gobble until season 3 or 4....and I've only killed in 2 seasons (6 and 7). I didn't get to see one die this year, but I got one to play the game on 2 different occasions and just got beat. On one of those occasions, he gobbled his ass off. I probably heard more gobbling this season than the last 9 combined.

7/10 for me. Killed #4 on April 7th. Was in the woods 21 days and heard gobbling on 18 of those days. Not a whole lot of gobbling and only got on one bird that was really burning it up. Dang bull gnats knocked my rating down a notch or two. Gobbling was almost non existent the last 3 weeks of the season according to my dad and brother who were still hunting after I came back to work.

8, only went a few mornings and didn’t hear one. It’s always a good day if a can at least hear one.

Worst I ever had - give it a 1 - not a close race - had what I felt like a decent opportunity to call turkey 12% of time meaning most days I never even sat down
Killed only 1 I sat down to n TN by skin of my teeth - sat down to 2 other turkeys all year - even tried local charity pay hunt - complete bomb - never sat down

A solid 7. It was a hot start that cooled off quick.

I killed my 3rd bird on 4/3, after that it was a struggle. I should’ve tagged out on 5/7 but I don’t wanna talk about that 😀

6 not the worst and was pretty decent for a 2 week period. End of the season was an exercise in futility.

Got a double pretty quick opening morning. Never went back. Worked out exactly as i planned. 10

If I can go and hear turkeys I’m happy. If I can play the game I’m very happy. If I or someone I go with can kill one I’m excited.
Weather plays a big part in the “hearing one.” I’m just glad God gave me enough good health to participate. 10

All my seasons are 2..cause im a 2 on the turkey hunter scale

1 for me. Worst I’ve ever had but not due to lack of birds. A combo of weather on my off days and more pressure on our club.

The first 3 weeks would be a 5, killed one on 2nd day on private. But nothing else on that land after that. Then the 2 weeks on public heard a good bit. But I believe them birds have been breeding with rabbits, they was in some thick stuff. last part of season I believe I heard 2 birds. So I'll rate it a 1.
Saying that, I knew the public would not be productive, cause it's rare if you hear any after April 18th.

If we are just rating Alabama, I’ll say a 3. The 3-4 longbeards I had on my club in February and early March were gone by the end of March opener, I assume eating chops and getting shot on the neighbors.

I will go with 2. I hunted 36 mornings and heard a gobble on 9 mornings.
