If you lost 20-70%, then you are in high risk.

Nobody take your stock advice from Bama Earl, he evidently cannot read or do basic math. S&P Jan 3 - 4,796 S&P close yesterday - 3,991 That's a shade over 20% there junior. You must've gone to the Biden school of economics. You know, the one where the real 25% inflation is 8.5% inflation.

I just logged into my Fidelity Account and here are the correct numbers. The S&P last 3 months its down -8%, Jan 1st to today its down -12.9%. The one year total return is flat at 0.21%.

You must not be in a true S&P 500 fund then. The differential in the S&P index from Jan 3 (first trading day of the year) close at 4,796 and yesterday's close of 3,991 is 20.17%. From an LOI standpoint, it is sitting at a flat 16.78% loss from the opening day close of 2022 and yesterday's close. These are actual recorded official closes on the S&P 500 and the closing numbers are published, recorded daily, and indisputable. If you've only lost 12.9% then youre actually lucky that your fund is not a true "mirror" of the S&P. Congrats.

He missed the "sell" by a bunch.

Looking for another 5-8% drop.

This was all easily avoided. Biden is driving us off a cliff. Every decision he has made since his inauguration has been wrong and hurtful to the middle class.

I am down about 30%. I just adjusted my 403B at work to transfer more of the roth portion I invest above the match % my company does, so I can invest that into my Fidelity Roth, which gives me way more options.

Sort of hoping our match % will get a bump for the next fiscal year.

How do y’all feel about Netflix (as an investment).

I don't think Netflix has enough of a Competitive moat
Netflix isn’t a single company stock that I would want to purchase and hold long term.

I think Netflix is in trouble. They were the to the streaming market but their wholeness is killing them.

Lots of alternatives out there now. Not sure if they will ever be back to where they were but who knows.

Netflix has gone woke. Look at Disney to see how that is working out. I saw something, I think in Twitter were some congressman is wanting to take something away from them too.

Get out. That's my advice. I rode the market decline in 2008 listening to what someone said I should do and ride it. Looking back now I clearly see that was a terrible decision.

If you ride it down you have no choice you have to stay in your investments. The question is what industry and which companies recover first and that's always what nobody is going to talk about. Your losses are as real as it gets.

I am still investing but only "new" money as this thing capsizes like a ship I'll put new money in at a discount but the vast majority I won't lose riding this turd to the bottom. That was stupid back in 2008 and even more stupid today this market could be down for years we have serious problems and no bullets in the gun.

Netflix is being out competed by older more experienced companies with many more resources. Netflix's big run is over.

Buy DG.:D

What's going to happen to DG will surely be interesting. Their whole empire is built on a growth model. When interest rates spike and they can no-longer build 500 stores every month..... I don't know what will happen there. There are cap rates on leases, etc. and the thing to watch out for on DG is if and when they stop expanding. I haven't looked but I might take a gander at any information they provide that shows same store sales or year over year without the additional/added store location growth.

I don't know if they provide anything like that publicly or their entire persona is based solely around "we added 2,000 stores last week our revenue is up $100 million".

The good news is to this point they have understood who they are as a company and have not been trying to be something that they are not.

Take away the expansion and it'll only add to the bottom line...they gonna be fine as long as they have shoppers...the buildings r just the right size to keep overhead down

I read his email which comes out every Friday afternoon. Sometimes it's not what he says, but what he doesn't say. Based on what he didn't say is why I sold my holdings in February. When he gave the buy signal in June 2009, the market had already reached its low and was on its way back up. All I'm saying is when he says sell, be prepared for a significant downward trend in the stock market. The younger investors just need to keep investing. Us older investors (I'm 64) need to make decisions on how to lock in the gains, even if it means we miss out on positive returns.

Earnings are strong, they make $ when the economy is good , they make $ when it's bad. Nobody out there is doing what they are. The company I retired from makes their store fixtures, they are the first to know when DG makes a move. DG is strong , only thing that might pull them down is Brandon. They ain't gonna stump their own toe.

So I am down over 30%, and selling is the smart play? And do what with it? Park it in a money market account and wait for the market to rebound?

That is selling low and buying high. Not a sound investment strategy. It is tough for me to look at my accounts and not sell. It is tough for me to invest money every paycheck too. As long as there is a fire sale going on, I am going to keep buying. This terrible economy hurts everyone, even the folks getting handouts. Eventually they will get sick of it too.
