I encourage everyone to email, call and write the CAB members. Maybe if enough of us voice our displeasure with the change in season structure they will do something about it.

Yep, you're getting a ticket next year for sure now....... After my email exchange a few years ago with Chuck Sykes, this will barely move the needle 😁

Already chased that rabbit before the change, they don’t care what we hunters think. The dates don’t really bother the places I hunt but it really screws southern half of the state out of probably half the season

Easyway to change it is start when you want, piss on them. I don’t think they care because I know of several that do this and have been reported multiple times for it and nothing was ever done. They start gobbling you start killing and the limit is merely a suggestion.

Yep, you're getting a ticket next year for sure now....... If you are gonna write letters, then you better follow the rules. I know this from my own experience. Maybe it was just a coincidence that I wrote a bunch of letters last year and then had a GW check me at 7 am on opening day. I had done everything by the book, so it was no problem except for scaring off some turkeys.

The CAB is just like every politician and government agency everywhere. They don't give 2 shitts about anything or anybody that they lord power over. They are there for one reason only, self benefit. If you think a letter from any random citizen is going to deter them from voting on something the way they are told to, you are only fooling yourself. Might as well write the white house and complain about gas prices.

Things like making sure that no one sees any data on which counties issue the most burn permits. Its easier to manipulate the conversation and maintain the status quo that way. People seem to care deeply about the resource right up until it impacts their bottom line. That’s the problem with having so many special interests deciding what happens…..Everything about “wildlife management” is trying to be managed around all of those things first…….Everyone points to something else that needs adjusting other than what they themselves are doing…..That way they can keep ripping off their grass head fires at $17 an acre or selling their decoys or pumping out tons of corn…..or insuring populations stay low to not effect crops…..and on and on…….One special interest after another that needs to be managed around…..The wildlife and the truth are actually last in line right now in our equation…..This how you end up with us trying to fix problems by adjusting season dates because of a dominant gobbler theory. I get it….folks make a living off of these things….but when it gets to this point something has to give a little iffin you really do care about the resource. It cant just keep being some other hole in the bucket that we can fix . We’ve reached a point of absurdity now that is easy enough for most folks to see and the reason for so many people being upset about the changes. It is what it is………

It cant just keep being some other hole in the bucket that we can fix . We’ve reached a point of absurdity now that is easy enough for most folks to see and the reason for so many people being upset about the changes. It is what it is……… Like normal, you didn't answer my question. Again, what benefit do they reap.... specifically. Don't throw out some arbitrary concept that doesn't exist like "making sure that no one sees any data on which counties issue the most burn permits". That data is as available to you as it is to a CAB member - I haven't seen it but I am sure if you discussed this with the Forestry Comm and get the right person with access to that info, they would be happy to give it to you. And it is irrelevant to the CAB making decisions on turkey limits and seasons recommended by the Conservation Department. You throw out "special interest" conflicts but, again, provide no reference to anyone or anything specific in reference to the CAB. I know there is a TON of special interest influence in government and am against it but I just don't see it with the CAB members I know. Which ones are influenced by their special interests?.... which ones benefit from shortening seasons, lowering limits or banning decoys in the first 10 days? And HOW do they benefit. I just don't see it. BTW, can you send me some of those $17/acre grass fire contracts? I would love to get in on that. You aren't close from my experience.
I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine

How do they benefit by changing the season dates??......They benefit by NOT having to change the other things that are influencing wildlife populations……the things that effect someone’s bottom line…..Its choosing the fix option that has the hunters foot the bill through a shorter season and lower bag limits….
