Some people take the AU Creed seriously and try to live by it. Actually, some people are just fine humans and will do the right thing. If you do manage to track this guy down, if he is like I was as a student, a nice dinner for him and a date would be a most welcome thank you.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Cool story.

I had a game warden come to the house years ago and asked if I found a shotgun on wma? He said a fellow had lost his after killing a turkey and thought he might have left it where he parked. He told the warden he went back after realizing about an hour later and it wasn’t there. He told warden he had seen a Jeep and GW knew it was me immediately and told him no worries if he picked it up. I told him I hadn’t seen a gun and he knew was telling him the truth. I got a visit from GW a couple weeks later and the guy called him because he found his shotgun….. it was leaning against the tree where he had killed his first turkey that morning.😂

Cool story. A logger friend was cutting some timber way up in PRV and found a 30-30 Marlin and a pair of binos next to a tree. They had been there several years . The rifle was all rusted and the strap had rotted off the binos.

Nother cool story. My grandaddy was riding with another feller when they came up on a Fox double barrel laying in the road. This prolly happened in the 1940s .

I’ve got a little Mossberg .410 pump (one of those tiny ones made for like a 5 or 6yo) that I found on public land several yrs ago. It was in a mud hole, underwater and half buried in the mud. Had a small amount of surface rust but not bad. I figure it’d been there a week or 2. I tried for several months to find the owner, but no luck. I cleaned it up and it functions fine. Now, my goal is to kill a turkey with it in the area where I found it. Just seems like that would be poetic.

Did you find it when you were stuck in the mud hole?

My big cup has ending up in the bed of my truck a couple times. Lol

That is exactly what happened to me. I found a corn pile someone dumped on property I was hunting and called the landowner and was talking to him about it. 2014 time frame. Laid the tikka like I had several times on the seat of the ranger and loaded it up while talking. Got out of the gate and half way home and went "oh chit". Stopped and it was gone. I hunted as well as the landowner for about 2 hours and nothing. I came back at daylight and went up and down the blacktop road and nothing. I made a police report and even put it out there there would be a reward for return, no questions asked. I have not seen it until this day.

Great question. Step one is to be a dumb ace.

Really classy move by the guy who turned it in. He could have just kept himself a Swaro topped X-bolt.

Still trying to get in touch with him if anyone has a lead. Have touched base with the ranger and verified it’s the right gun.

Thanks again guys.

I found a High-point .22 pistol in my front yard next to my mailbox. So I called the police and they told me that they were in pursuit of some people the night before that committed a robbery plus some other things. During the chase the bad guys were tossing all kinds of crap out the car windows. From what I heard it was the pistol that sealed up the conviction.

Probably around 2001-2002 When I was in high school we were taking down the old green house behind the ag shop. It had couple layers of blocks around the bottom. My buddy found a rusty revolver stuffed down in the blocks as we were busting them up. Can’t remember the caliber.

It's easy to lose stuff when hunting. I hunted at the old B&G club on Jacobs mountain several years ago and had just killed my first racked buck ever. It was a 9 pointer and I was still pretty tore up. I brought it in to the club house, weighed it, took pics, loaded it back on my four wheeler and got almost back to my camper that was in the primitive camp area when I realized that I couldn't find my cap. I rode all the way (about a half mile) back to the clubhouse looking along the roadside for it. When I pulled up one of the guys asked what I had lost. I told him my cap and he pointed to the top of my head. I had turned it around so it didn't blow off and wasn't seeing the bill.

I'm not sure if I have ever felt like as big of a dumbazz as that moment. Aw, who am I kidding? I've felt like a pretty big dumbazz a bunch of times.

A few years ago I had placed my rifle in a hard case on the tailgate of my truck, finished loading everything else up and headed home which was about an hour away. About halfway home a guy pulled up beside me honking his horn and pointing so I rolled down the window. He told me that I had something laying on my tailgate. I pulled over and sure enough, there on my tailgate was my open gun case with two scoped rifles laying in it. I have no idea what kept it all from tumbling out on the dirt road much less going 70 mph down the highway. If I could find out who the guy was that alerted me to it, I'd surely like to shake his hand and buy his lunch.

Finishing up at the range one day I discovered a lovely Colt Diamondback .38 I my range bag I turned it in and sat down to see who left it about 10 minutes later the worried owner returned and all was right. No I never asked how he did it his bay was 12 from mine I figure his brain locked up or something.
