OK, so in the other thread I talked about going to get tested because I felt so bad, and thought I had Covid. Well, it turned out that I had influenza B. I've been sick with that for about a week.

Yesterday I was feeling much better, like almost completely over it. I had to drive to Birmingham and take my dad to see the neurosurgeon. Everything went fine, go home and I started feeling worse. Bad night sleeping last night, and I'm thinking, "Well, maybe I did too much too soon." I got up this morning and I usually have a large glass of ice water with lemon and iodine in it. I couldn't taste the lemon and accused Mrs. Irish of not putting any in there. Then I made the coffee and the coffee taste like hot, brown, water. I asked Mrs. Irish to get me one of her homemade chocolate chip cookies. I can't taste that worth a damn either.

Could this thing had morphed into Covid? WTH?

I just Googled it and apparently the Flu can cause a loss of taste too...

In fact, both the common cold and influenza can cause temporary anosmia. Scientists have also identified a loss of taste and smell among the symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Maybe a false negative rapid Covid test? Did the do a PCR test also?

But the Influenza B test was positive.

Hell... I may have had Covid this whole time and the tests were just off.

I know I haven't slept worth a crap since this whole thing started. And I think that's one of the symptoms too.

I thought I already had covid going back to the beginning because I was around or taking care of numerous people that had it. I never got sick... until october. I came down with another illness and about a week later got sick again. It wasnt covid initially, but the secondary infection was.

My doctor said when healthy my body probably kept me from getting covid, but once I was worn down from the other virus I got covid. Maybe you are having similar issues.

Regardless, it sucked being sick for almost 3 weeks.

I had the flu one week and the ‘Rona the next. At least that’s what they told me. They didn’t actually test me for the flu so I dont know how that was decided. My ‘Rona test was negative the first time and positive the second.

I’m to the point that who the hell knows what they have the test are so unreliable. Hope you get to feeling better whatever you have

I lose smell and taste or sometimes get a weird cigarette odor with anything that affects my sinuses. I don't smoke and I'm not around anyone that does, so that's always been strange. The only difference I could really tell when I had the 'rona was it lasted for weeks after all other symptoms were gone.

There was a time when folks would get colds that hung around for weeks.

I think I am in the same boat but maybe a week ahead of you. I am on day 14 of something that has kicked my butt. I tested negative for Covid. I have had a hard time sleeping and get night sweats bad. Lost my senses of taste and smell about a week into it and both of them are slowly coming back. I quit taking Mucinex about 3 days ago and quickly realized that was a bad idea.

Taking any new meds? Lots of meds, prescription and over the counter, cause loss of taste.

So I got tested yesterday, and the results came back positive this morning.

This is day 3 of the horse paste. I think my taste is coming back a little, because that horse paste smells OK, but tastes terrible. I had to chase it with a homemade chocolate ship cookie. And I actually kind of tasted the cookie. So that's a small win.

Basically I'm in day 3 of a bad head cold. I'm taking Mucinex to help with the congestion and drainage. Ibuprofen for pains and headache. Melatonin for sleep at night. Vitamin C, D3, and Zinc. And drinking plenty of lemon water. The doctor said to take Alpha Lipoic Acid to help the smell and taste come back. Waiting on that to get here from Amazon.

It gets worse. The soar throat and cough are as bad as the 102 fever that comes and goes.

On top of all this I'm doing a 21 day fast from hard liquor. And I think I've only had about 4 beers in that time. Makes me wonder if some of this is alcohol withdrawal.

I know one thing, I'm sick of TV and the internet.
