As a young police officer I was discussing arresting the children of politically powerful people one day with the very wise, Lt. Ken Smith who would go on to become an Asst. Chief. His words on that matter and it extends to other areas also, were that sometimes you will make people mad but if you do the right thing you'll never get in trouble for it. There is a difference between making someone mad and getting in trouble.
I always remembered that and passed it to other young officers in my later years. I hope I've taught my son that too since his part time college job is checking IDs at a restaurant/bar on the strip in Tuscaloosa. Those words of wisdom really apply to his job.
