I actually forgot that today was opening day of gun season until about mid-morning. I guess it’s finally official on where deer season falls in my season of life, chasing three boys from one wrestling tournament to the next.

I quit hunting anything for 3 years and realized life can go on without it.

I only started back 3 years ago out of boredom, and to stop sitting at the house drinking beer all day , so this is year 4 and will probably be my last for awhile.

It’s impossible to find decent land to lease or a decent club, and it’s basically a sunken cost. I’ve killed 2 good bucks in the last 3 years and could’ve killed a decent one last year, but the hunting experience is pure s_ _ t.

I guess having good land and good people to hunt with growing up either spoiled me or gave me a bad expectation of what real Alabama hunting is, but I know what I’ve hunted 12 of the last 16 years is in no way something I want to invest my time and hard earned money into.

I'm lucky to have a lifetime place to hunt. Grazed one yesterday with a ML. Young lady killed it this morning. We were both happy.

I still have the domain name . One day I may get it back up and going .

My problem is I can't drag a deer . I can't walk very far .

It ain't quite the same for me anymore, public land grind gets old and it's damn near impossible to find a jam up place for a good price

I don’t have the drive for it I used to , I’m in the woods right now , I just don’t care about it as much . I still get a kick out of seeing my youngest son who still lives at home kill deer together with me .

No opening day hunt for me. It is not as much fun as it used to be. I enjoy the planting, etc, as much as hunting.

Used to be a fellow on here called level5 talked about the 5 levels of hunters. It made lots of sense.

Normally no Matter what I hunt all weekend or at least a full day and half another day on weekends but I'm so off this year between working non stop and remodeling my home myself I have not even bow hunted much less scouted for gun season.sucks!!!lol usually bow hunt from day one of season and in woods all year long preparing.
My wife laughs at people asking me to help move during deer season or whatever comes up.i missed last two weeks of deer season helping my bro in law after tornado hit his house a few years ago but in past 20 years or more that's all I've missed until this year.aaarrgggg
Hopefully turn things around soon.need some down time and antlers for the deep freeze

The time you have spent helping others is wwwwwaaaaaayyyyyy more better than the time you have spent hunting or prepping to hunt.
