similiar thing happened to me with my first born. i was living in hollywood partying like there's no tomorrow with celebs and mega millionaires. but the thing is in that lifestyle, there really is no tommorrow, just sadness. I knew I had to go back to my roots and bring my kids up in the same Christian way. making the change ment passing on a lot of money opportunities I had, and living a modest trailer life in alabama. but I was almost bursting with happiness for years, and still am. My kids are almost grown and seem to have a small portion of the bug I had, but the bible doesn't lie when it says that if you bring a child up in Gods ways they will return to it.

That's awesome. My story is similar except it was my daughter who gave me the motivation to turn my life around. I never did drugs and wasn't an alcoholic but i drank enough to qualify. I had lost a business and a marriage and tried to go back to the lifestyle I'd lived before marriage of a different woman every week and drinking to excess several nights a week. First, I knew my 3 year old daughter needed me and secondly I got tired of being one of those people who was trying to escape reality with alcohol. I didn't want my daughter to see me weak like that so I quit it all cold turkey and soon enough God got ahold of me and really shook things up. Today, life is as good as it's ever been and I thank God for giving me my daughter to save my life and get me turned in the right direction.

We have 5. All adopted through foster care. 2 sets of siblings. They gave the first set of siblings parents almost 2 years to get their act together and they weren’t willing to give up the drugs to get their kids back. The mother just couldn’t understand why she couldn’t sew her wild seeds then come back whenever she got ready. It really is sad. I couldn’t love them more but that definitely scars the kids. I can’t even imagine what all they saw and endured before they got to us. My son never saw his parents be anything except bible thumping, church going prudes. He has seen the effects of drugs on others in our family and how it has hurt their kids and even been passed on to them. I have never kept anything about our past from him. My wife dont really like to admit it, especially to let the kids know about it. I used to take Joseph with me to the bible study we ran , before covid. There would usually be 25-30 men there from a nearby rehab. I felt like it was important for him to see all sides of everything. He knows what the Lord did for us. He knows what would have happened if we had kept going the way we were. I cant make his decisions for him but i can dang sure give him all the information available to be able to make a good decision. The rest is up to him. When he was about 12yo i started letting him go off with some of the men i really trust to be good examples. I felt like if he spent some time alone with some real men, he might understand what men act like. That way when he gets to be 16yo and hes out with a bunch of boys acting like idiots, he would understand that is not what men act like. We can not make it for our kids but we can make sure they have the tools necessary to make it. Also important to know is that if many bad decisions are made and it ends you up in a mess, there is a way back. Its never too late while we are breathing. Good deal. I used to take mine to the men’s breakfasts we would have at Church too. I figure they can use all the good influences we can put in their lives. Recently me and the oldest were talking and he was telling me about the guys on his football team and just kids in general who were vaping. I asked him if he had tried it and he said no. Also said “I don’t not do it because u would be mad at me. I don’t do it because I saw what stuff like that did to my birth parents and I’m not ending up like them”. I wish more parents would take it like u did and turn their life around. But sadly alot won’t.

Great post. I thank God for my 3 kids every day. They all turned out great despite me not being a great Dad. Your boy is only 14 here he's got good size. I bet he's a great football player.
