Took my boys to the coast for a quick overnighter to get after some pompano. Struck out late yesterday eve towards Ft. Morgan, and didn't do much better this morning, but we got enough for supper. My youngan's first pomps, and the first one's I've laid hands on in about 20 years. Glad to breathe the salt air and get sand on my feet once again. Expensive fish, but a good trip all around for the dudes. We did have some excitement for a bit this morning. Had a hit that drug the rod slam out of the holder. I wasn't set up for big stuff, so after thoroughly tangling two of my rigs, whatever it was bent the circle hook wide open and got off. Had another big hit 10 mins later. Never turned it, and it broke my 30 lb dropper flouro between the hook and the dropper knot.

Edit: the kayaks will be poised for action in about a month. It's about time to hit some Spanish right in the mouth!

It was a bit too rough Mon for yaks. Wind picked up around 9, and the surf followed suite. Always seem to get a little wet/damp getting in and getting out... water temps could stand to be a touch warmer for my liking. Ha!

Awesome pictures, looks like a blast.

I'll be heading down to Destin in a few weeks and I can't wait. I'm guessing I can still catch pompano then, but either way it will be fun just to catch any fish.

That’s awesome! I fished Ft Morgan a couple of weeks ago and found success.

FYI... there is a place that rents beach carts that comes with sand spikes, rod and reel, filled ice chests and umbrella for $15.00 a day. Look up Beach Power Rentals in Gulf Shores. He also builds great carts!

Was in Panama City on 4/16-4/18 and limited on spanish all three days. Most were 16-18" with a few axe handle 24"+ fish mixed in. White and chartreuse jigs were the ticket
