Well after killing two “dominant gobblers” on back to back hunts I was told by the three stooges Chuckie, Chamberlain and Hawley my hens were gonna go un-bred and my turkey population would start down the path of doom and gloom with no end in sight. I took their tongue lashing and been on the hunt for a subordinate gobbler like Hawley described in his little article. I finally found a group of 4 subordinate gobblers today. I assume they were subordinate because they were right by their selves. I left the other 3 left unharmed, so hopefully they will bred a hen or two In all seriousness I did not hear from the 3 stooges so that is clear. I was just having some fun at their expense and the dominant gobbler theory 😁 I over slept Friday morning and over the weekend I spent some time hunting with my best friend and his son. My buddy has been fighting cancer and he asked me to help his son kill a bird. I jumped on the opportunity to spend sometime with them since I have been around him much with the covid pandemic and his compromised immune system. We got close Saturday but the gobblers hen made it to us before they did and she got boogered. We gonna give it another go this weekend. I finally got back after them Monday and came close yesterday but no cigar. I found 4 today that came to the call and only drummed. I’m not sure what it’s gonna take to get on gobbling bird that will work but if these silent ones want to keep getting in my lap I’ll be glad to give them a ride home. Can’t have no turkey jinx put on me by passing gifts from the turkey gods. Interesting fact about my bird, he only weighed 13 lbs 2 ounces. He’s literally the smallest mature turkey I have ever killed. The old timers speak of a native pure strain gobbler that calls our area home. They say this is a “Mossy Head” pure strain native gobbler. Sure sounds interesting and glad I potentially killed one. He reminded of true Osceola swamp gobbler due to his size. He was completely healthy and had sharp 1 1/16” Spurs.

Awesome story. Congratulations on the kills recently.
The "native strain" is interesting.
Is it the camera angle or are the fan tips as light as they appear in the pic?
Also, I hope you're able to get one to work for your friend and his son.

Might as well give up that lease. No way any turkeys will remain after this season is over
