What is Heaven going to be like for those of us who believe? I, and I know others, often wonder about this? Will we recognize our loved ones who went before us? For those of you that are the Bible Scholars, what does it say? I haven't found too much in there to give me a good idea which makes me think it will be so glorious that it is beyond description and comprehension in our brains.

The Bible seems to be more implicit than explicit on this.

"I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 8:11

This is the Father and his two sons being together so they recognize each other.

1 Cor 13:12

I'll answer your question with a question. Would it be heaven if we could not recognize those loved ones who have gone on before us?

I believe we do. I have to believe this like many others so I can cope with losing loved ones. I believe the next time I see my daddy he’ll look like he did when he was in his prime. Full of life and happiness. I know this.

I would highly recommend reading the book of Revelation. It’s filled with details regarding Heaven and the ends times. God revealed these details to John while he was on the island of Patmos. Jesus told him to write certain things down but other things he wasn’t allowed to.
Our minds can’t even comprehend it all. We hear John 14:2 a lot at funerals which is very comforting-

New King James Version
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Our human brains cant comprehend the greatness of heaven

I believe that:
we will not remember our life on earth

not sure about remembering or recognizing loved ones

we are all children of God, will we all be children?

Yes, we will recognize each other.

I've talked to people who believe that heaven will be an extension of this life just without the pain and suffering; then i've talked to those who believe we will literally walk down streets of gold. I found a good article on it once that dove deep into the subject, even into the fact that we will have jobs (that we enjoy) and food to eat and it will be real life. I tried finding that article to post and will continue to look for it later. I found it once because honestly wondered if there will be hunting in heaven (i know silly). If anyone else is curious, there will not be hunting in heaven because the fear in animals is a result of the curse man brought on this world and that curse does not exist in heaven.

I hope heaven is a dirt road that goes on for eternity. Otherwise, I'm gonna get real freaking irritated having to talk to all the Democrats up there.

I honestly don't believe that any theories we as humans, living in the temporary created reality, come up with are going to be anywhere close to what Heaven is going to be like. I also believe that the way Heaven, as described in the Bible, is the best explanation that the people of the day, writing the Bible, could come up with. Same thing with the creation story.

I think you need to think spiritually. We will have a glorified body. I would imagine that body will see, hear, feel, smell things a little different than this old body. No temptation, no jealousy, wont ever be mad or irritated again, no more tears. We will be 100% satisfied all the time. Every now and then i get a glimpse of it but even then i cant fully wrap my mind around it. I got pretty excited in church last sunday. I felt for a minute like heaven might be just over the next hill. Im sure looking forward to it. About knowing your loved ones when you get there, ill tell you what the Lord told me. I was worried i might be on one side of heaven and daddy might be on the other side and we might just not ever bump into each other there. I prayed real hard about it and the Lord said this "Have i ever withheld anything from you? I have given you all youve asked for and youre afraid i will keep this from you." That was the answer he gave me so i know ill get to see daddy again.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.

. We will be filled with such awe and wonder at seeing God and Jesus and worshipping them, that trying to find loved ones will not be a part of the equation. Would I like to see past loved ones, you bet. Would I like for every day to be turkey hunting, fishing, beach going, eating whatever I want without gaining weight or causing cholesterol to go up, sure, but heaven will be about spending eternity with Yahweh. It isn't about seeing those that have gone before us.

Yep. You can learn a lot about what God (or god with a little g) somebody serves by listening to how they describe heaven.

Have you ever thought about our relationships in heaven. Would your son be your son? Would your dad be your dad. I dont think so. I believe we will remember them but our relationship will not be the same. Maybe what we will remember is the love we have for them.

Paul spoke 5 languages and after God showed him part of heaven he said he couldn't describe it with words. That tells me those that claim they've experienced heaven and describe it so easily are either lying or were hallucinating.

Come that time we'll all have perfect love for one another and while we may recognize family and friends we won't be concerned with our familial relationships any more. No more sickness or worry and no need to take care of each other. Just peace and harmony with all our brothers and sisters in Christ.
