Savage 301T, barrel cut down to 21”, Comp N Choke .382 choke, cheapo SightMark green dot reflex sight, and custom cerakote color on metal matched up to Bottomland colors. Handload TSS 9.5’s at 40 yards. Sweet little jewel!

It is Hal’s basic 13/16 oz load. Super simple and has done great for me in 3 different guns now.

Looks good man, how much weight do you think it shaved off with that barrel being cut down? Those things are kinda heavy for what they are, with the 26” barrel

Not sure. I was mostly after shortening it (that long barrel kinda defeats the purpose of carrying a novel compact gun to me) and making it a little more balanced. Both were affected greatly IMHO.

Pretty gun! Why do guys want to shoot a 410 at a turkey though? Is it a challenge thing or cause the gun is easier to tote etc?

Yes. Lol!

Me personally, I never tote one until I’m pretty well satisfied for the year. IE it dont hurt too bad when I miss one (which has happened with a .410 way more than I care to admit though I have never had one with a reflex sight until now). I do also carry it as backup when I take a newbie and let them tote my main gun. I do know a bunch of folks start carrying em on day 1 of the season though. I doubt I’m ever that guy to be honest. I have pretty much sold out to the 20 gauge for the rest of my life, unless TSS becomes illegal. At the end of a super long season, absolutely exhausted in May and getting set to walk up up a mountain for the millionth time, being as light as possible is really nice.
