I’m not sure about various state regs but a .50 is the most flexible. The shooter had the option of all available .50cal projectiles but may also choose .40 and .45 sabots.

ballistics ain't got chitt to do with what happens AFTER the bulllet hits flesh. A 50 round ball is more effective than a 45......

Same argument as a 9mm, vs. 357sig., vs. .40, vs. .45.

I’ve been shooting a 45 Knight for years. 150 gr Triple 7 pushing a 200 gr sabot is pretty hard hitting.

Frontstuffers follow an older school ballistically. Anything a .45 does a .50 does better. Bob hagel wrote of an elk killed at 165 yards with a .50 and the picture looked like a chainsaw tore through the shoulder. Bob wrote "Figure this'un out and write me if YOU have an explanation cause I can't figure this out."
Only hits count.

I be been shooting a 45 Knight for years. 150 gr Triple 7 pushing a 200 gr sabot is pretty hard hitting. That's what I have used since they started the special season, except that I use 175g bullets. It's hardly any different than a center fire rifle except it's slower to load. I somehow let the bolt uncock when I took it out to clean it after the season. It happened once before years ago and I remember it was difficult to compress the spring, but I don't remember exactly how I did it. Gotta get it out and look at it.
