I have seen more young turkeys this year than I ever seen before. And it isn't in just a spot or 2; I've seen them in 3 different counties. I've also seen more young ones than I've ever seen traveling the roads in Coosa and Chilton counties. You just can't drive the Lay dam road without seeing a flock of turkeys crossing it.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Sounds like a great time to start the season 3 weeks later, shorten the season down to just 3 weeks and go to a two or three bird limit!!! That should really help them build on this great hatch and come back strong, dont y'all think that'd be a great idea?????

Think how many there will be when we go to a three bird limit.

I've seen more turkeys since last summer than I have in several years. This is all over east/central Alabama. I think our population is on the rebound and we need to get the point across before the state is so quick to make season date changes and lowered bag limits.
I think we had a problem for 4-5 years but in the areas I work the population seems to be doing well. A friend of mine found a turkey with avian pox in Tallapoosa County about 5 years ago and it seemed we were having a problem with a decline in those years but the past couple years I'm seeing more and more.

I'm seeing great numbers of turkeys on my places in Lee and chambers county. My Russell county place got completely wiped out by the timber cutters a few years ago so the neighbors have good numbers from what I've seen.

We still haven’t seen any turkeys on our place. None over the summer or this winter. I guess they are gone for good.

Whoa, wait, wait a minute. Are we saying........are we talking about a good hatch with less male turkey around to raise them. With all those gobblers dying, I just don’t believe it..........studies have shown loco, that can’t be true

In all seriousness, “studies” have apparently shown you can’t kill gobblers early and often, and have a good hatch/strong population. So I’m guessing if you have a good hatch after the Covid season of gobbler death - it will ignored.

Or maybe there’s something else? Maybe these areas with declining numbers have other problems. Problems that don’t fit some agenda. Cause there’s plenty of areas in the south with good numbers of birds - and wow - that’s where more gobblers are actually killed. But those are the same places people are seeing good hatches this year. Just mind blowing how that works.

Last year was good but the year before was amazing. It been fun watching our population return to where it was 20 yrs ago. I am flat covered up in 2 yr old birds. Lord willing I will be risking my career and marriage in a couple of months.
