I’m pretty well connected in the crappie community and I don’t know anybody that’s wearing them out, anywhere. 2 of the guides up around Scottsboro aren’t taking out clients from what I was told Saturday.

I would spin that by saying I had a good day stripe fishing and happened to catch a bonus crappie. smile

Yep, gotta learn how to spin a story without actually being a liar if you're going to do much fishing.

I am the last person to understand fish, especially how to catch crappie, but I did read article(s) that made sense over years in relation to structure and bluebird days. It does make sense, but another thing is to remember it is hard to know if there are enough crappie to catch. It seems sometimes crappie just don't bite period like other fish and if you want fish be glad something is biting. We use to call that a mixed bag. Spring folks that get on the spawning fish just need to understand to put back some seed for next year cause next year may be an off year for the spawn and that big female 2 pounder may be the difference between a thriving population and zilch. I know it will never happen because there are too many $$ being made, but some fishing seasons on specific fish should be closed during the spawn or all together for time period. Then those impoundments would have plentiful fish the rest of the year and years to come.
