This. Up north they map spots in their boat during the summer. When the lakes freeze over, they transfer the unit to their p/u to find the saved waypoints to fish.

Oh yea. I was in Wisconsin February of 2018 and there were folks driving all over Lake Winnebago ice fishing. I walked out there a couple hundred yards but didn't drive on it.

Well that’s more tame than I was thinking...was thinking they were mounting transponder low on the truck and “looked” for fish while driving around, but I guess it really wouldn’t see through the ice, nor would a lot of trucks driving randomly around be good.

Probably because the unit isn’t just a passive receiver. It TRANSMITS as well as receives, and if it’s a close approximation of L.E. speed detection devices and has enough power, it CAN jam a similar signal or confuse the other receiver.

Now that covers the SONAR.

Not sure what use it would be against LASER unless it transmits that, too. I doubt it.

Also, it’s a LOWRANCE. Since you can’t ever get any customer service from them, this makes it the ideal choice for a burner unit without losing too much sleep if it’s confiscated.
