Seems like I have seen more people looking for clubs next year than ever before. What has caused the change? COVID? People just ready to get out of the house? Seems odd.

Most that are looking for clubs now are.....

A.) In a poorly managed hunting club now and tired of it.

B.) The same people that always want to join a club but never want to spend the money on one in July when dues are due or put in on work days.

C.) Bad apples that are probably getting kicked out of the club they are in.

D.) The guy that sucks at hunting and hasn’t had any luck so it’s the club’s fault so he needs a new one.

E.) Lost their job due to COVID and is now back at work and can afford it again.

Lol if I’m missing one feel free to add on to the list.

F.) People who are genuinely looking for a better or closer to home place to hunt, who pay their dues before they are due, put in more than the required number of work days, and are really good folks.

Finding good club can be Really hard

I hav paid lot of $ and been in crappie club

I hav also been in some really good ones but they few and far between

Smaller group of like minded people w similar goals has better chance than large number of people

Lot of times Some of club guys Never hunt wind right but they pay their $ and they hav every right I do but they destroy mature deer chances when they hunt except for the few times they get lucky and get wind right. Million goofy things that can go on in club - I am more live and let live - but then I will look for somewhere else to hunt

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

I get tired of losing leases every 5 to 10 years. Work the land hard and implement a management plan. Takes five years to turn a piece of property around and then lose the lease to someone who pays an outrageous price per acre. I am looking to buy a couple hundred acres in a good area and do my own thing. Let me know if anyone knows about land available.

BayedUp, if you live in or near a large city, like I do, it is extremely difficult to find a good club, no matter how responsible you are, how much money you are willing to spend, or how willing to make every effort to support club policies you are.

Oh I know I’m just messing around. There’s some good members looking but they are few and far between.

Everybody wants to get in a new club now. When you have to show up to work days and actually come up with the $ weeds a lot of them out.

I have gotten a few folks invitations to join our place, they were all In. Until they had to stroke that check.

I've been some high dollar clubs and was somewhat happy with them. But this year, my dad, my brother, my brother in-law and myself picked up our own 550 acres. Best decision we've made in a long time, concerning a hunting lease. Extremely low pressure. We are all on the same page. No bickering or hurt feelings. Feel free to hunt each other's stands, because we all pitched in to put them up, etc. It's a breath of fresh air for us.

started doing this years ago & couldn't agree more.. Unfortunately lease land has become very hard to come by.. When it comes available it doesn't last long

I've come to the conclusion that folks who are satisfied or dissatisfied with a hunting club, has a lot more to do with their individual personality and ideals about hunting than it does the club itself. My experience with every club / lease I've been involved with, in addition to countless friends' stories about their clubs, lead me to believe ALL clubs are the same. Seriously, hear me out.... Deer aren't hard to hunt, if you've got deer, then it will be a "good club". But we don't make rules to manage deer, we make rules to manage deer hunters. In the same way that you are subjected to every sort of personality, beliefs, and ideals in the general world (think about political voting), it's the same with hunting clubs. Just because someone is a deer hunter, in NO way makes them the same as you. But my bad experiences really have just been about "hunting". The reality is you aren't getting a great HUNTING experience in most clubs, you're just getting a good fellowship experience. I've never been the kind of guy to set up a camper, or otherwise stay at the club overnight anyway....I've always been in leases close enough that I can drive back n forth daily. It's ALL about the deer and hunting to me, but that's just my personality and ideals, I understand it's not the most common view of hunting clubs (which is why I've long said that I realize I "don't play well with others", I'm not made for a hunting club). I've been involved with good clubs, that had lots of deer, but I didn't enjoy my membership. I've never been part of a squabble, never even been in a club that had any drama or any of the other bad crap most clubs have, I just hated the way most members were so carefree about everything (especially about the hunting itself).

This is similar to the HOT/CRAZY matrix, between a 4-5 Crazy and a >8 hot, AKA a Unicorn.
