Youre 100% correct big bore but hydrostatic shock from a bullet being pushed at excessive speeds (over 3300 IMO) certainly drops one like you're flipping off a light switch. As far as gravity goes, every bullet will drop, with of course, the exception of the 6.5 creed which miraculously according to most that own them, defies both the law of gravity and all the laws of physics. It is the greatest cartridge ever. You know you want to admit it. No holdover is needed from 0 to 1,000 yards, which is amazing for a bullet only traveling around or just over 2900 FPS in most factory offereings. That's why it is sooooooo awesome and great.

This has been my observation as well. An 80 grain barnes ttsx bt out of a 25-06 running along at 3775 (even higher in a .257 wby) is a thing to behold on all medium game. The solid copper construction means it will pass through about 2.5 feet of animal. The petals on the front always open up and, even though they generally don't, they will break off and create individual wound channels when driven that fast. Not many other bullets perform very well at those velocities. Bonded do sort of ok, partitions work of course but the front doesn't do much.

Do damage to the central nervous system, and deer drop where they stand. Do damage to the circulatory system and deer live until the oxygen levels in the blood reach the point they can no longer sustain life. Doesn’t matter what caliber you shoot them with.

This.. And how awesome is it to have a round that can pull off both.

I have killed a truck load of deer with 270. Core lokts and Hornady Superformamce SST. None ran more than 50 yards. Almost all dropped within 2 yards

This site always puts a smile on my face! Never lacking entertainment value! Maybe someday I will have one of those wild tales of shooting deer in the 10 ring and blowing there hearts to pieces but seeing them run off the side of a flat earth. But I have yet to be so fortunate! You guys keep up the good work! Got to go load up my new Creedmoor into the truck! Tomorrow is opening day after all.

i have started taking my sons tika youth 243 even when I hunt by myself. 87 grain reduced recoil ammo. It is dead on out to 200 yds and is a tack driver that kicks like a 22. I love it. Deer dont bleed but sure do die When shot with it

Carlos used 168 gr boat tails from a .308. He also used the occasional ma deuce with unertal 8 power mounted on it. Ballistically the same. .308 and 06, not 50 bmg

Carlos used a 30/06 part of the time

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Velocity is secondary to bullet construction and placement. I also want one of those both lungs&heart hitting bullets. Maybe I should get a .375 h&h loaded with 235 grainers.

Only hits count.

I stand corrected. Thank you gentlemen.

Indeed. Placement is everything. Bullet construction a close second. People kill the most amazing things with military ball every day. Velocity is really cool if you have it in addition to the first two though.

I’ve actually trained at the Whitefeather facility in Elkton with multiple Hathcock award winners. Those guys have forgotten more than I’ll ever know about shooting.
