BOSS 3" #5's but they are a little salty for shooting woodies. I use them for big ducks and geese. Woodies would get Rio's in the #4 flavor. I've shot Rio's for years but moved to Boss shells when I went strictly 20ga for everything

Lead high brass 7.5s work good for timber hunts I heard Yep. It’s a wonderful thing.

I mainly hunt woodies with a 20 gauge. I use Kent Faststeel 3 inch, No 3's or 4's Most shots are 20 yards or less and these do the trick. I get the one ounce loads for the No 3's if I can find them, if not the 7/8 oz loads work fine. This^^^. I shot a 20 exclusively last year and these worked better than any other I had. I shot quite a few mallards with them as well and they performed as good as my buddies shooting 12s.

My 12 gauges have been lonely the last 15 yrs. I'll use steel 4's for most applications under 30 yards, with a modified choke. If it's close work, I'll screw in an improved cyl choke. If the shots are longer, or big ducks show up, I'll swap to hevi 5's or mag blends from the modified choke. If they don't come inside 45 yards, I don't even lift my gun. Skybusting ain't duck hunting, anyhow.
