Another Vote for Jim's - we use them to cater, always good and sides are a plus. Never any left.

Pruett's in Gadsden is a staple. They used to have $1 sandwiches with a 10 sandwich limit per person. Now it's $1.50 a sandwich. They are some count.... but Gadsden ain't got any other real bbq joints. They got the market cornered.

Wouldn't get the bbq from Johnny Ray's, but their coconut cream pie was unbelievably good the last time I had it.

Have had it. Pretty doggone good. I love her strawberry cake, too.

Rendezvous in Memphis has horrible ribs. They literally grill them. I bet they spend less than 30 minutes on them. Lots of meat left on the bone because they’re so tough.

I also like the brisket sammich from Fire in Spice in Huntsville.

Sam's BBQ in Montgomery is great. I always get the combo plate. Chopped pork topped with medallions of smoked sausage and side of shoestring fries with a sweet tea.
Smokin' S in Wetumpka is also great.
Sweet Creek Farmer's market on Hwy. 231 just south of Montgomery has fantastic ribs. Best ones locally IMO. No sauce needed but I dab just a spec on there for a little extra pop.
Used to love Twix-n-Tween in Centerville back in the day but haven't been there in years so don't know what's up there anymore.

Rendezvous in Memphis was nothing to write home about.
Best thing about Johnny Ray's was the lemon pie. Way better than the BBQ.

You didn't miss the mark. Saw's is bad overrated for pulled pork..... bout a 5 out of 10 on the meat itself. You gotta cover it with sauce. But when someone says Saws they are typically talking about the Juke Joint or Soul Kitchen.... where they got things like Boudin. And they got Oysters N' Greens and Catfish. There are different menu items at all three locations. Burger might be the best thing on the menu. I eat there about once a week. It doesn't matter that I think I could cook BBQ in a crockpot better. I'm a fan I just know what to order.

sweet creek is overrated ...it's just like Peach Park in Clanton, too much tourist hype, way over priced on everything, mediocre quality. we stopped going when the one woman there, (who seems to be in charge) was a total jackass when we wanted a whole box of tomatoes..

If that is the place right by the creek it is sure enough some good BBQ. I remember when they opened and I don't know if they are the original owners or what..... 20 years ago they would sure enough put a good BBQ sandwich on you. .

New Market BBQ is the one by the creek and bridge. Great people. I don't know how long they've been there but we've been going for at least eight years.

One place no one has mentioned, because it's not there anymore, was Thomas Pit BBQ on US 72 in Madison. I enjoyed all the meats, the creamy tater salad was fantastic and if you went at lunch or on Saturday to have something for Sunday, you better be ready to sit in line for a long time.

Hate that they closed.

The original Smokehouse was great. I haven't eaten there since it was rebuilt after the fire.

The Army Barn is a Mexican joint now. It's ok as far as Mexican food goes. Pretty generic

I used to work in Alex City.......Shonuff BBQ is great! You have a choice of mild, hot or mixed sauce. Sauce and the meat is great. And all the fixins are like home cooking.

I love Whitt’s bbq on a sandwich and have found Tate’s bbq in Scottsboro almost exactly the same. I enjoy the smoked wings at KC”s in Scottsboro also. Like the wings from moes in Birmingham and their chicken but not their pork. Holy smokes in Scottsboro has good stew in the winter but overcooked pork. Ribs are good there if they cooked them that day and not a month ago. Saws has a good chicken sandwich. All of these are just my opinion only
