i need to invest in something to mow around my pond on step banks, has anyone bought or used one those DR brush mower? They are pretty dang $$$$$
Is there a different brand or one that works well

I use it a lot around my lake. Just have to be carful not to overdo it, cause it can cause erosion. Just allow the grass to grow back a little before spraying again, and you will not have erosion problems.
I had a DR mower. One of the old originals. I used it around the lake. It worked, it would cut most anything. But it would work the hell out of you too. I found it to be cheaper, safer and a lot easier just to spray it.

Swisher (not the Cigar company) makes a pull behind grooming/finish mower. Rather than run off a PTO shaft like one on a tractor would, this one has a small engine that drives the belt. You can pull them around with an ATV, SxS etc. they make an offset hitch for them so that they pull over to the side of what you’re pulling it with. That would let you cut closer to the pond edge without driving right up to it.

I think that would do exactly what you’d want.
