How many snipers have y'all met in your life? I swear about half the time the guy I end up chit chatting with at a gun shop ends up telling me they were a sniper. What a crock of crap. Every other son of a gun in a gun store is a sniper. It can't be just me that this happens to....

1 or 2 that I believe many I don’t. Lots of stolen valor out there.

The "Marine Sniper" that I met yesterday told me that with subsonic ammo, my 22 bullets should "be nearly done dropping" at 200 yards so only go up one more click for shooting at 300. I bet he was a sniper teacher at sniper school.

My dad was a sniper but he won’t tell anyone about it. Only told me about it once or twice in my entire life.

Back in the day he was a badass with a rifle. He’s still pretty good but not like he used to be. When I was a kid I seen him make some amazing shots on deer. I saw him shoot a huge 8 point freehand one time that dogs were chasing. It came across the little narrow 4 wheeler trail we were standing on and looked like a gray blur crossing that road. It was so fast I couldn’t tell whether it was a buck or a doe. That gray streak hit that road out of the thick stuff and he shouldered and shot in one fluid motion. Walked back to the truck and told me and my buddy to go get his deer. We walked down the road thinking he was crazy and got down there where the deer crossed and it was piled up in the ditch with a bullet through his front shoulder.

The only person I know of that actually was one only told me about it after knowing him for 10 years, and I know he doesn't want to talk about it. Not that he was keeping it a secret...I just think the guys that actually do most of that "cool" stuff don't really talk about it too much.

I've met plenty of "snipers" though rofl

Ive got some subsonic 22lr that are so weak they wont cycle through a semi auto. Im not saying they wouldnt kill somebody if you hit them just right, but I could also see them bouncing off a good field jacket. Probably wouldnt pierce a skull at 300yds

Two. One ended up in prison (probably still there) and he thought he was a genius , it's too bad he wasn't smart enough to NOT sell stolen guns 🤣

I know no real snipers, but i know several folks who are of the self proclaimed sniper variety. They're insufferable to talk to because they're so full of chit

I don't encounter that many snipers. I usually meet that guy that has done everything that I have done, but just a little bit bigger, better, and faster. You know the guy. If you have killed a deer at 350 yards with a .270, he's done it with a 45/70 at 425 yds. If you rolled your four wheeler twice, he rolled his 11 times off the mountain at Skyline AND never came off the seat. Didn't get a scratch on him or the wheeler. He once shot his 15 dove limit with 6 shells, can run a 4.1 40, and hunts Brown Bear with a spear. He's getting rusty though because last year it took 9 shells to get his dove and had to put a scope on his 45/70. He was going to show me that he could still rip the 40 but he had to have surgery on his thigh the week before to repair the damage from a Great White Shark attack. He has pics of his Brown Bear on his OLD phone. I think his name is Ima Topper or something like that.

I know two who were legit snipers in two different branches of the military. Neither talks about it much at all, primarily because they don’t like to think about it.

Was at Thanksgiving before we ate and had to run get something and an inlaw wanted to ride with me. Saw my AR in the back seat. Started telling me about being a sniper in the Marines. Told me they gave him his M16 when he got out. Told me about another AR he had just got. I asked him what caliber it was. He did not know. A couple more questions confirmed he was FOS. I know two that for sure were. Yep they don't talk about it.

I have know quite a few from serving in special units. There are also Air Force “counter snipers”. I have encountered the gun store chit chatters, the best ever carried a 7mm STW, he was a baddass. Even met one fella at the VA hospital that was a Sniper, SEAL, Delta, Recon, and Green Beret all within his three year stint. I called him a liar and told him to leave me alone, he jumped for me and I put him down right there in the waiting room of radiology. It was a big scuffle and the last time I did anything at the VA other than my required checkups to stay in the system. I use the bases or private doctors now.

I had to attend a course from sniper instructors on camouflage. That and my grandfathers voice indelible in my brain telling me as a fidgety kid To “be still” has saved my bacon too many times.

There are those being otherwise legit riflemen claiming to be snipers stealing valor to

I don't know your in law, but just because someone's military doesn't qualify them as firearms expert, i know one guy that still doesn't know the difference between a 45ACP & 45Colt and the other always fks up and buys 38 special ammo for his 380 🤦‍♂️🤣 My BNL is on year 19 and the first thing he does before making a firearm purchase is call me 😉
